A*mazing & Saturday Disney host James Sherry looks unrecognisable as he resurfaces on ABC Hard Quiz

James Sherry is best known for hosting the popular children’s television shows A*mazing and Saturday Disney in the 1990s.

But the TV presenter looked hardly recognisable during a recent appearance on ABC’s Hard Quiz, which was aired as a repeat on Tuesday night.

The 53-year-old was grilled by comedian Tom Gleeson, 46, who made several jokes about how his career fizzled out in the early 2000s.

‘You’re a TV presenter, but I haven’t heard of you,’ Tom began his scathing introduction.

‘What are you on? Channel 31?’

James said he used to host game show A*mazing from 1994 to 1998, and joked that he’d like to see how Tom would manage in a similar live format.

‘Did you want to learn?’ Tom shot back.

Tom then teased James about his Logie invites ‘drying up’, before adding: ‘It’s a bit awkward. You do know there’s a celebrity version of Hard Quiz and you’re not on it!’

James hosted Channel Seven’s A*mazing and Saturday Disney back in the ’90s.

He also dabbled in acting and appeared in Blue Heelers and McLeod’s Daughters.

He now works as a content producer and announcer for Cricket Australia and the AFL, but has not ruled out a TV comeback.

In an interview with Vice in 2016, he said he ‘felt old’ looking back at his career in the ’90s, but described hosting A*mazing as his ‘dream job’.

He said he still gets fans coming up to him and gushing about the show.

‘What I miss most is working with young people. I just always felt inspired by their energy and enthusiasm,’ James added.
