A British Airways passenger was none too pleased after he was made to sit on a vomit covered seat for a 10 hour flight.

When Dave Gildea noticed the chunder on his footrest, cabin crew asked him if he was responsible for it.

The business class passenger, 38, says he wasn’t given an apology or the chance to change seats and woke up with dried vomit on his feet.

He only made the horrific discovery two hours into his flight from London Heathrow to Seattle when he popped up the footrest to get some kip.

The vice president of a Silicon Valley software company says he then noticed dried vomit on the wall behind him and on the floor.

He shared a picture of his horrific discovery on Twitter and said cabin crew insinuated the vomit was his ‘even though it was dried in for days’.

Mr Gildea told the Sun: ‘I went to the cabin crew and the attendants first response was “was this here when you boarded?” but it was clear it was dried in.

‘He didn’t offer a seat change or an apology, so I asked for a blanket to cover it up so I could put my feet down.

“Of course as I slept, I moved around on the blanket so I woke up with dried vomit on my feet.

‘It was pretty disgusting. With the price I paid for the ticket, I was shocked.’

Two weeks after the incident the BA Silver member says all he was told was that the airline was looking into it.

People have called the vomit doused seat ‘gross’ and ‘disgusting’ on Twitter and say Mr Gildea ought to get a free upgrade on his next flight as compensation.

A British Airways spokesperson said: ‘We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of service and an enjoyable experience on board our flights, and we are sorry that on this occasion this fell short of our customers’ expectations.
