Ben Fordham surprises listeners on his 2GB breakfast show Friday as guest gets down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend live on air
Radio star Ben Fordham had a surprise for listeners on his 2GB breakfast show on Friday after an in studio guest got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on air.
The delightful drama occurred just after Brad Callanby and his long-term partner Simone Fazzari had just won $20,000 dollars in a station promotion reports The Daily Telegraph.
When Ben asked the café owner what he was going to do to celebrate, Brad said: ‘I think the first thing I’m going to do is make the mother of my children my wife.’

Simone giggled an urgent ‘yes’ to Brad’s proposal, while Ben tried to keep listeners informed of the details of the romantic moment as it unfolded.
‘The look on Simone’s face was priceless,’ Ben said later.
The couple, who own a café in Sutherland in Sydney’s far south, have been together two years and already share two children.

While still live on air Brad confessed to 2GB listeners that Simone had, ‘only been asking me every day for the last six months.’
Brad’s confession was met with raucous laughter from within the studio.
The newly engaged dad had tipped 2GB producers the day before about a possible surprise after someone from the station had called asking for Simone’s number.
‘I said, “well actually she’s not my wife, but if I win the $20k, she will be”,’ Brad explained.
Brad took a knee and a delighted Simone agreed to marry him
Brad said that getting engaged had been the highest of priorities and he was very nervous before doing the deed.
In a touching twist Brad says Simone may have anticipated something special about their visit to Ben Fordham’s show.
‘She told me this morning [Friday] that she had this funny feeling in her belly,’ he said.
