A cabin crew boss who fat-shamed and insulted members of British Airways staff after secretly taking photos of them at work has been fired.

Katarzyna Richter, operations director on Polish national airline LOT, took several photos of BA crew members during a recent flight from Gatwick to Poland.

Posting the illicit photos on her Facebook profile, Mrs Richter hit out at the British staff by calling them unkempt and criticising their weight.

She wrote: ‘Today, my attention was drawn to grooming and appearance of British Airways cabin crew members, unpolished shoes, holes in tights, too tight uniform, double chin, rotten and uneven teeth, messy hairstyle.’

She also suggested that the staff were not properly carrying out their duties.

However her colleagues and other members of cabin crew were quick to criticise her for the cruel post.

One member of BA crew said: ‘How dare this airline executive invite the public to assess the appearance of a rival carrier’s workers. The primary job of BA staff is to keep passengers safe.

‘This woman should know more than anyone how to behave. She must be sacked for fat-shaming BA crew while going about their duties.’

After her remarks were brought to the attention of her bosses at LOT, Mrs Richter was fired from the national airline.

A LOT spokesperson said: ‘We are truly sorry for this situation. The comments published by one of our employees on the private Facebook profile are contrary to the applicable standards and the value system adopted at LOT Polish Airlines.

‘Such behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by our company, therefore we decided to terminate the co-operation with Mrs Richter with immediate effect.

‘Furthermore, we ensure that this situation will never happen again by drawing even more attention to the notification of Social Media Policy and applicable procedures to our employees.

‘The importance of Social Media Policy shall be once again underlined during upcoming trainings which our employees undergo on a regular basis.’
