Call for Monique Wright and Mark Beretta to replace David Koch and Natalie Barr on Sunrise

Sunrise viewers call for fill-in hosts Monique Wright and Mark Beretta to permanently replace David Koch and Natalie Barr: ‘This has been the best team in a long time’

Monique Wright and Mark Beretta hosted Sunrise over the summer break as David ‘Kochie’ Koch and Natalie Barr took a much-needed holiday.

But with the main crew returning to the studio on Monday, fans have flocked to Instagram to demand the fill-in hosts become a permanent fixture.

They flooded the comments of a dance video posted to the Sunrise Instagram page on Thursday, which featured Wright, 49, and Beretta, 56, ‘having fun’ in the studio.

In the hilarious video, the television presenters lip-synced Are You Having Any Fun by Elaine Stritch as they showed off their goofy dance moves.

One-by-one, they shimmied across the stage before the footage jumped to a group shot of the whole crew going all out and dancing alongside their hosts.

Delighted by the show, fans begged Wright and Beretta to stay on as co-hosts for the breakfast television show, with many suggesting they should replace Kochie, 66, and 54-year-old Barr.

‘Sunrise has been so good. Plenty of laughs the last few weeks. A pleasure to watch,’ one person wrote.

‘You guys have been so great to watch this summer. Can you stay as the morning team?’ another said.

A third slammed Barr’s interviewing skills, saying: ‘Monique’s ability of conversation when interviewing is so refreshing to listen to.’

They continued: ‘Nat ums and ahs and her voice is constantly whining. No connection to the person she’s talking to.’

A fan begged: ‘Please don’t leave us. This has been the best Sunrise team in a long time.’

‘Please don’t go,’ another agreed. ‘Can’t the station change you two to the weekdays and Koch and Nat to the weekend? Mind you I did love weekdays when Samantha was there.’

One person went so far as to threaten to jump ship and start watching Sunrise’s competitor Today.

‘Woooo will miss this lot! Back to boring! Might have to watch Karl instead!’ they commented.

Despite the complaints, Kochie and Barr will return as the main weekday Sunrise hosts on Monday morning.
