Chilling last message missing mom sent daughter before she was found dead in Georgia ravine

‘They are not going to let me go, love you’: Chilling last message missing mother, 59, sent to daughter along with $2,385 before she was found dead in wooded Georgia ravine

  • A homicide investigation has been launched after mother Debbie Collier was found dead in a ravine
  • Collier sent her daughter Amanda Bearden a total of $2,385 on Venmo with the harrowing message: ‘They are not going to let me go, love you’
  • During the investigation, cops found that Collier had rented an SUV on September 10 and left her home with just her debit card and driver’s license
  • Debbie, who married her husband Steve in 2013, worked as the front office manager at Carriage House Realty in Athens, Georgia, for many years

A missing mother sent her daughter a chilling final message, telling her ‘they are not going to let me go’ before she was found dead – as investigators believe it hints that she may have been kidnapped.

Debbie Collier’s tragic body was found in a small, steep-sided ravine on September 11 near a wooded area in Tallulah Falls, Georgia, after being reported missing the day before.

Cops launched a homicide probe after frantically searching nearby woods with a K-9 unit and finding a red tote bag and partially-burned blue tarp. They then discovered the 59-year-old’s body nearby.

However, investigators at Habersham County Sheriff’s Office revealed the eerie final message the mother sent her daughter before she was found dead, alluding that she was held against her will.

Collier, who lived in Athens, Georgia, sent her daughter Amanda Bearden a total of $2,385 on Venmo with the harrowing message: ‘They are not going to let me go, love you.’

Bearden, 36, then tried to call her mother after receiving the cryptic text, however she didn’t answer the cell phone.

It was then that the daughter reported her mother as missing to Athens Clarke County Police.

Cops have said that the disturbing statement Collier sent to her daughter may suggest that there was a violent kidnapping involved before she was found dead.

They are treating the case as a homicide, rather than a suicide, reports 11 Alive.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Col. Murray Kogod said: ‘Further search resulted in locating the body of a female subject down an embankment close to where the bag and tarp were located.’

During the investigation, cops found that Collier had rented an SUV on September 10 and left her home with just her debit card and driver’s license.

They were able to track the location of the car because of its SiriusXM satellite radio – leading them 60 miles north of her home in Athens, Georgia.

Collier’s body was then tragically found in a nearby ravine off of the highway where the vehicle was discovered on US 441 near Victory Home Lane.

The mother’s devastated family were informed as authorities started investigating the cause of death. Images show investigators combing the scene where her body was found, reports Now Habersham.

An autopsy will be undertaken by a medical examiner.

Debbie, who married her husband Steve in 2013, worked as the front office manager at Carriage House Realty in Athens for many years.

Steve said he last saw his wife at 9pm the night before she vanished on September 9.
