Chrissy Teigen’s IVF journey to have third baby after pregnancy loss

Chrissy Teigen announced she and husband John Legend are expecting their third child, nearly two years after the heartbreaking loss of her unborn son.

The exciting announcement came months after she completed an in vitro fertilization treatment, earlier this year.

In February, Teigen, who announced she hit one year of sobriety last month, confirmed to her 37 million followers that she was going through the IVF process.

‘I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because I am the opposite of pregnant!’ she wrote on Instagram while in the process of trying to conceive again.

She continued: ‘I posted about it in my stories, but I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos.’

A month later, the mom-of-two revealed she finished a round of IVF during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

‘Everything is good. I finished my IVF part, so I feel so much healthier and so much better with that,’ Teigen said.

At the time, the model also shared a photo of needles and capsules from a medical facility that suggested she was having an egg retrieval procedure.

‘Here we go again,’ she captioned the image.

In September 2020 Chrissy and her husband John Legend tragically lost their third child, a baby boy, who they had already started calling ‘Jack,’ 20 weeks into her pregnancy.

Chrissy shared the heartbreaking news with her Instagram followers shortly after the horrific experience, and posted photos of herself in the hospital mourning the loss of her child.

Not long afterwards, she revealed that she would be unable to carry a child again.

‘I love being pregnant, so so much, and I’m sad I never will be again,’ she posted on Instagram.

Despite the loss, Chrissy expressed gratitude for her other two children, daughter Luna, five, and son Miles, three, whom were both conceived via IVF.

‘I’m so lucky for that,’ she told People last year. ‘I just think of it in terms of how blessed I am already, and also there are so many ways to have a child nowadays… whether it’s surrogacy or adoption.’

Luckily for her, Teigen’s dreams of being able to conceive again came true.

Back in January she celebrated six months without alcohol and was open about navigating through this year’s awards season while sober.

The star was joined by pals Kris Studden and Alana Van Deraa as she said: ‘These things are very weird for me, because I’m so used to getting so hammered at these things.

‘Awards season, I very much connect to enjoying yourself and having champagne, but I also connected with those feelings of immense regret or stupid moments.’
