Cody Simpson seems to have made a playful dig at Miley Cyrus’s ex Liam Hemsworth, while discussing his romance with the singer for the first time.
Miley and Cody have been enjoying a whirlwind romance over the last few weeks, after getting together shortly after Miley’s split from ex-girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter.
Thing seem to be heating up, with the pair enjoying cosy nights in and Cody supporting Miley during her recent hospital visit, and he’s insisted the couple are ‘very, very happy together’.
The pair actually go way back, but things were never romantic between them, as Miley was busy dating Liam Hemsworth, who she married last year before splitting eight months later.
Cody joked Miley had overlooked him because she was ‘happy with another Australian’ instead.
Bit of friendly rivalry, is it?
Miley and Liam have since called time on their marriage and decade-long relationship and she seems to be pretty smitten with Cody, instead.
Speaking about Miley, Cody said: ‘The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long.
‘[We’ve] found each other again in a space where we’re both not partying, working real hard, and it just keeps things healthy and it’s good.’
Their romance hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride, though, as Miley came under fire for ‘moving on too quickly’.
Just days after splitting with Liam, the Party In The USA hit-maker went on to date Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter for a month.
Shortly after their break up was confirmed, Miley was seen smooching Cody in public – confirming their romance.
Defending herself against ‘slut-shamers’, Miley fired back that a guy would never receive as much hate as a woman, if they had moved on as fast as she has.
She wrote: ‘I know the public feels invested in my past relationship because they felt like they saw it thru from the beginning.
‘I think that’s why people have always felt so entitled over my life and how I live it because they’ve watched me grow up. But I am grown now and make choices as an adult know the truth/details/reality.’
