Marco Valadares, the country music duo’s attorney, said the accident was caused by a puncture in the bus’ front left tire.

The Federal Highway Patrol is still investigating the official cause of the accident and whether the driver was speeding after a motorist recorded the bus reportedly exceeding the speed limit.

The driver who uploaded the video to a WhatsApp chat room noted the bus topped at least 90 miles per hour. The federal limit for buses is 49 miles per hour.

‘The bus passed at over (86 mph) and caught my attention. I accelerated to reach it,’ the 46-yea-old man told Brazilian news outlet G1.

‘I didn’t film with the intention of harming anyone. I have a habit of filming these things. I posted [the content] in a WhatsApp group. When I saw the repercussion, I tried to erase it, but I had no control anymore.’

Conrado & Aleksandro was initially formed in 2003 by Conrado Bueno and Aleksandro.

The duo recorded five albums and then split in February 2019 when Bueno decided to pursue a solo career.

Soares joined Aleksandro soon after Bueno’s departure and adopted the artistic name of Conrado.
