A man who masturbated in front of a child while she sat beside her mother at a shopping centre food court has walked free from court.
Dale Cameron McGarry, 59, was spared jail after pleading guilty to a number of child sex offences at the Fremantle Magistrate’s Court in Perth.
He was given an eight-month suspended sentence and ordered to obey strict living conditions for the next 18 months.
The 59-year-old was charged with two counts of being a child sex offender who was in a public place and two counts of indecent acts in public, reported the West.

He did several laps of the food court before sitting down beside a 12-year-old girl and her mother.
When the mother looked away he turned towards the girl and made eye contact, touching and exposing himself, a court heard.
But he had been spotted by an off-duty police officer who called security.
A month later he exposed himself to another 12-year-old girl at Whitfords Shopping Centre in Hillarys, who immediately told her stepmother.

The incident was captured on CCTV.
Magistrate Adam Hills-Wright said the McGarry’s behaviour was particularly concerning because it was right out in the open.
‘The phrase “every parent’s worst nightmare” is overused, but any parent is concerned about when their children are not in their presence at school or walking down to the shops,’ he said.
‘But here the parents were there, they were right there and it didn’t stop him.
‘It was brazen offending in a public place, these are most worrying matters.’
