‘He’ll love me being sexy, even with another guy’: Curse of Dancing On Ice won’t hit me, vows Love Island’s Ekin-Su
- Ekin-Su Culculoglu, 28, insists her relationship will survive any temptations that may come her way as she competes on the latest series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice
- The reality star will spend weeks in close company of skater Brendyn Hatfield
- Dancing On Ice curse has claimed relationships of Love Island’s Wes Nelson, Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon and EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas
It’s a curse that’s becoming as potent as Strictly’s in splitting up celebrity couples. But as the new series of Dancing On Ice kicks off, contestant Ekin-Su Culculoglu insists her relationship is more than robust enough to withstand any temptations that may come her way.
The reality star will spend weeks in the close company of hunky professional skater Brendyn Hatfield, but says nothing will jeopardise her romance with boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti, forged when they won Love Island together last summer.
‘I don’t believe in the curse,’ the 28-year-old said. ‘It only happens when a relationship is already on the rocks – then if you have chemistry with your partner, it will happen.

‘If your relationship is solid, why should you be jealous? Trust is key. My relationship is stronger than ever. Davide is more in love with me because I’m doing something I love.
‘He loves Brendyn, he says he’s really strong. He’s coming to every show. I’m going to thank Dancing On Ice – it has made my relationship a lot stronger as it’s given me something to be busy with, and that’s an attractive quality to have.’
The security in her relationship with the 27-year-old Italian means Ekin-Su, who is of Turkish origin, won’t be toning down her routines on the ice. She said: ‘My performance is quite sexy. Davide is going to love that. He’s not jealous. He’ll sit there and enjoy me being sexy, even if it’s with another guy. He’s like, “Wow, that’s my girl.” ’
Ekin-Su’s attitude will no doubt be music to 37-year-old Brendyn’s ears, as he is happily married to fellow professional ice-dancer Jessica Hatfield.
The Dancing On Ice curse has previously claimed the relationships of Love Island’s Wes Nelson, Coronation Street actress Samia Longchambon and EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas.

Ekin-Su’s appearance in tonight’s episode had been in question as she battled a fever, but last night she posted a video from the back of a taxi telling fans: ‘En route to training. Getting back on and not giving up just because I’m ill. Bring on tomorrow.’
She has also been suffering from the physical demands of rehearsing for the show, saying: ‘I’m getting a lot more body aches. I feel like I’ve been in a boxing match. By the time I come home, I say to Davide, “Can you put the Epsom bath salts in? It’s going to hurt, it’s going to be sore.” ’
The new series, which starts on ITV1 at 6.30 tonight, also features former EastEnder Patsy Palmer and ex-footballer John Fashanu.
