Daniel Bruhl transformed into Karl Lagerfeld as he’s seen for the first time portraying the fashion icon in a new Disney+ biopic.
The actor, 44, certainly embraced the role as he sported the designer’s signature sleek ponytail while filming new scenes on set in Rome, Italy on Thursday.
The Spanish-German star – full name Daniel César Martín Brühl González Domingo – will portray the iconic German fashion designer in a six-part series called Kaiser Karl.
Bruhl – who starred in Oscar contender All Quiet On The Western Front – will play a young Lagerfeld in the series which will follow his rise in the French fashion world in the early 1970s.
And Daniel got stuck into portraying Karl as cut a smart figure in a dapper light grey blazer and waistcoat worn with a purple tie.




Daniel also rocked a stiff white collar which has become synonymous with the fashion designer’s look.
Dark trousers and black shoes are added to the ensemble, with the look finished off with tinted retro shades.
The scene appears to show Daniel sitting at a bar while showing off his drawings of models.
While the character then greets and kisses boyfriend Jacques de Bascher, played by Theodore Pellerin.
The series will be adapted from Raphaëlle Bacqué’s 2020 biography Kaiser Karl: The Life of Karl Lagerfeld.
Lagerfeld will not be the only iconic fashion designer portrayed in the series as his fashion rivals Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé will be played by Arnaud Valois and Alex Lutz, respectively.
French actress Agnès Jaoui will portray Gaby Aghion who was the founder of Chloé and one of the first to recognize Lagerfeld’s talent.
There’s Someone Inside Your House actor Théodore Pellerin will be portraying Lagerfeld’s love interest Jacques de Bascher.










Other notable famous faces set to portrayed in the series include Marlene Dietrich (played by Sunnyi Melles), Paloma Picasso (Jeanne Damas), Loulou de la Falaise (Claire Laffut) and Andy Warhol (Paul Spera).
Jérôme Salle and Audrey Estrougo are set to direct the Gaumont and Jour Premier produced series.
Biography author Bacqué adapted the book for the the screen alongside Isaure Pisani-Ferry and Jennifer Have.
Kaiser Karl, which will also be filmed in France and Monaco, features 2,200 extras, over 40 different sets and an incredible 3,000 costumes,
