Darren Criss says it is ‘invigorating’ juggling new fatherhood with Broadway role in American Buffalo

Darren Criss revealed this week that he finds it ‘invigorating’ to juggle new fatherhood with eight shows a week on Broadway.

The 35-year-old heartthrob and his wife Mia welcomed their daughter Bluesy in April – just three days before he opened in a revival of American Buffalo.

However he dished to People that his grueling schedule has given him even more energy, saying: ‘If you want anything done, ask the busiest person in the room.’

The Glee alum spilled: ‘It’s a blessing to get all these things happening kind of all at once – personal, home stuff happening among the same fun, prosperity and excitement that is existing in my professional life – there’s something that’s very invigorating about that. So I’m rockin’ and rollin’.’

Darren, who won an Emmy playing Gianni Versace’s murderer, continued: ‘Chaos begets chaos. And I, for better or worse, tend to thrive on a bit of chaos.’

As if he were insufficiently laden with responsibilities already, he is co-hosting the first hour of the Tony Awards this Sunday.

His co-host for that hour will be the onetime Dancing With The Stars pro Julianne Hough, who was interviewed with him for People.

Julianne gushed that Darren ‘wrote this incredible song and we get to perform together’ during the opening of the ceremony.

Darren exposed how close-to-the-wire the preparations have been, saying: ‘We’re still figuring it out. It’s only Thursday; the show is on Sunday.’

His new revival of American Buffalo at Circle In The Square sees him playing opposite the acclaimed film actors Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell.

Written by David Mamet, the play first opened on Broadway in 1977 with Robert Duvall and Kevin McMillan alongside Blanca Blanco’s boyfriend John Savage.

The current production opened April 14 and is scheduled to run for multiple limited engagements ending on July 10.

Darren dated Mia for over seven years before they got engaged at the beginning of 2018, after which they married just after Valentine’s Day 2019.

They welcomed their little girl Bluesy Belle Criss⁣ on April 11, and Darren went public with the news on his Instagram page three days later.
