A truck driver is lucky to be alive after a horrific head-on collision in Sydney which almost ripped the cabin from his vehicle.
Shocking dash cam footage from a vehicle near the scene of the crash shows two trucks driving in opposite directions on Canterbury Rd at Revesby, in Sydney’s south-west, about 1.30pm on Friday, when the smaller truck veers into oncoming traffic.
The impact rams the smaller truck, driven by a 71-year-old man, back in the direction it came from and nearly separates the cabin from the rest of the vehicle as it careers across three lanes of traffic.
The horrific video, posted to the Dash Cam Owners Australia YouTube channel on Sunday, shows the cabin completely crushed, with the truck coming to rest on the footpath.

Surrounding vehicles were left at a standstill as many drivers were trying to comprehend what they had just witnessed.
NSW police told Daily Mail Australia on Monday, ‘the (71-year-old) driver of the westbound truck was freed from his vehicle by Fire and Rescue NSW, before he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.’
‘The driver of the other truck, a 46-year-old man, was uninjured.’
The video received significant reaction online from members of the public displaying their concern and shock, including a person who said: ‘One of the most violent crashes I’ve seen on this channel. Damn. That initially didn’t look survivable, I hope the poor guy makes a full recovery.’

‘Holy hell the cabin on the small truck was annihilated and the person in it survived wow,’ another stated.
A third person commented: ‘That is absolutely brutal! I thought the small truck may have rolled out from the premises on the left and rolled across the road, unmanned.’
‘To think there was a person in that cab when it was completely annihilated and torn to shreds,’ they added.
While a fourth said: ‘As a semi trailer driver it frustrates me how many times cars pull out, cut off and slam their brakes on in front of me and other trucks with no thought of what carnage they would cause.’
‘It takes an incident like this to shock people at the reality that is…Please give us truckies a break and please give us space and time to stop and make our turns.’
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is under way.
