Detectives arrest two women and three men after woman in her 40s is found dead in house

Police have arrested five people over the suspected murder of a woman found dead in a house early today.

Emergency services were scrambled to a property in Nuneaton, Warwickshire at around 1am this morning.

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found dead inside. Detectives arrested three men, aged 32, 34 and 40, and two women, aged 36 and 43, on suspicion of murder.

They are in custody and officers are at the scene while investigations continue, Warwickshire Police said.

The victim’s family has been told about her death and a post-mortem will take place in due course, the force added.

Detective Superintendent Caroline Corfield said: ‘An investigation has begun and we are working to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, which is unexplained at this time.

‘We are currently exploring a number of lines of enquiry as we attempt to build a picture of what has happened.

‘We would ask anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area over Friday night and until about 1.15am this morning to please come forward. Equally, if anyone has any concerns or information that can help, we would advise them to approach and speak with one of our officers.

‘There will be an increased policing presence in the area, and I would like to reassure the community that we are conducting a thorough investigation.

‘Our thoughts are very much with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time.’
