Doubleview girl allegedly lured from Perth park by stranger and ‘indecently dealt’ with

Man accused of snatching girl, 9, from playground and taking her to his home to indecently assault her before she managed to flee the house

  • Girl was able to flee and alert family who called police. The man was arrested 

A nine-year-old girl has been allegedly indecently assaulted by a stranger after he lured her away from a park and locked her in his home.

The girl had been playing at a park on Newborough Street, in the Perth suburb of Doubleview at about 10.30am on Tuesday when she was approached by an unknown 39-year-old man.

The man allegedly coerced the child to a nearby home where he ‘indecently dealt’ with her, police said.

The young girl managed to flee and alert her family, who called police.

The man was arrested not long after and has been charged with kidnapping, indecent dealings with a child under the age of 13, and procuring or encouraging a child to engage in sexual behaviour.

The 39-year-old will appear at Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
