Eamonn Holmes has revealed that his son Declan’s wife Jenny has given birth to a little girl – making him a grandfather for the second time.
The broadcaster, 63, shared the happy news about the new arrival with his fans on his X page – formerly known as Twitter – on Saturday afternoon.
Eamonn wrote: ‘Just became a Grandpa for the second time at 10 am this morning . Another Grand daughter from Jenny and Declan.’
In a separate post, Eamonn revealed that the family were feeling ‘blessed, relieved and happy’ at the safe arrival of their new addition.
Eamonn’s fans rushed to congratulate him on his new granddaughter, taking to the comments section of the post to send their well-wishes.
The presenter, who shares his son with his ex-wife Gabrielle, first became a grandfather when Declan welcomed his first child in 2021.
Eamonn, who was working on This Morning at the time, announced: ‘My son Declan and his wife Jenny are the happy couple. Jenny gave birth to Emelia, who is 7lbs 6oz.’
As he and Ruth kicked off the show, Eamonn joked much had happened since viewers saw them the previous day, before Ruth gushed: ‘You’re a grandad!’
Clapping her hands with delight, Ruth added Declan and Jenny’s daughter had a ‘lovely name,’ before revealing some of the hilarious suggestions they’d come up with for little Emelia to call Eamonn.
She said: ‘We came up with Grumps, but he wasn’t too keen on that one,’ before Eamonn admitted he’d prefer to be called Papa.
He joked: ‘It surprises people, because they look at me and think, ‘He’s too young to be a grandfather.’
‘I’ve got people getting in touch with me about glamorous grandfather competitions and all sorts of things like that. But no, my friend Bill has anointed himself Papa and I like it.
‘It’s like the Pope. There’s an infallibility that goes with it. So I’d quite like my grandchildren to call me Papa. That would be nice.’
Ruth added: ‘Congratulations, Declan and Jenny. We’re very, very excited and can’t wait to meet her.’
Eamonn’s son Declan married his wife Jenny at Castle Leslie in Ireland surrounded by friends and family in 2018.
Castle Leslie Estate in Country Monaghan is the same venue that Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney married ex-wife Heather Mills
As well as Declan, Eamonn shares Rebecca, 32, and Niall, 30, with his ex-wife Gabrielle.
He split from Gabrielle, after ten years of marriage in 1996, as the pressure of commuting to London to present GMTV from their home in Belfast took its toll.
Eamonn married co-host and wife Ruth in 2010, they share son Jack, 21.
