Election night pictures show apparently shell-shocked Eric Trump, Jared, and Kayleigh McEnany

The Agony of Defeat? Election night pictures show apparently shell-shocked Eric Trump, Jared Kushner and Kayleigh McEnany absorbing the results – after Jan. 6 panel says top aides told Trump his fraud claims were false

  • Images taken that night show staffers absorbing reports of the returns that would result in Trump’s defeat
  • Eric Trump can be seen huddling with Jared Kushner as Biden won key swing states
  • Some aides covered their mouths while watching events unfold
  • ‘These people did not think they were winning,’ wrote author Jonathan Karl, who published the White House photographs
  • House Jan. 6 committee featured testimony by key aides who disputed Trump’s claims of election fraud
  • They tried to counter Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who urged Trump to keep claiming fraud
  • Former aides testified Giuliani was intoxicated, but Giuliani furiously denied it and said he ‘refused’ alcohol all night

Images captured by White House photographers on Election Night 2020 show President Donald Trump‘s inner circle absorbing returns that would ultimately result in a loss to Joe Biden by 7 million votes, with signs of tension gripping the room.

The pictures appear to show the grim results sinking in for Trump’s team of advisors, at least according to the journalist who published them.

They provide a visual account to supplement testimony the House January 6 committee presented Monday – including statements by key Trump advisors who said they told the president his claims of election fraud were bogus.

Among the emotive scenes are a pictures of the president’s son Eric, who helped steer Trump’s business empire and whose wife, Lara, was a regular Trump cheerleader at campaign rallies.

The image shows a bearded Eric inside the White House with what could be a 1,000-yard stare at the returns.

Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner is looking intensely while holding some papers.

The photos were published in ABC correspondent Jonathan Karl’s book, Betrayal.

They ‘show the scene at the White House on election night,’ Karl tweeted.

‘Look at the faces — these people did not think they were winning.’

Another image shows a group shot, with aides crowded around multiple tables pushed together inside the White House.

There are signs of late night food, bottled water, and a maze of computer cables.

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who is seen in text messages he handed over to the committee pushing election challenges, has his right hand over his mouth.

Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is seen in the corner with her hand on her hip.

She was featured in texts that Rep. Liz Cheney read aloud at Monday’s committee hearing between her and Fox News host Sean Hannity.

‘Key now. No more crazy people,’ Hannity wrote her. ‘Yes. 100%,’ she responded.

‘No more stolen election talk,’ the Fox News host responded.

Lara Trump and Kushner can be seen looking toward a screen in the photo, while Stepien studies a piece of paper.

Monday’s hearing featured Stepien and former Trump spokesman Jason Miller testifying that the urged Trump not to declare victory as he did on Election Night, given the number of outstanding ballots.

‘There were suggestions by, I believe it was Mayor Giuliani, to go and declare victory and say that we won it outright,’ Miller said.

He said Giuliani made clear that ‘everyone who didn’t agree with that position was being weak.’

But Miller also testified that Giuliani was intoxicated.

Said Stepien in videotaped testimony: ‘My belief, my recommendation was to say that votes were still being counted, it’s too early to tell, too early to call the race.’

Stepien told House investigators that he had heard Giuliani was ‘upstairs’ in a reception area looking to ‘talk to the president’ on election night.

He said there was a clash between ‘my team and Rudy’s team.’

‘I didn’t mind being characterized as being part of Team Normal, as reporters kind of started to do around that point in time … I’ve been doing this for a long time, 25 years, and I’ve spanned political ideologies from Trump to McCain to Bush to Christie,’ he said.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr testified that he told Trump his fraud claims were ‘bull****.’

Trump delivered an angry speech as the returns came in where he called the results a ‘fraud on the American public’, then kept up the charges for weeks, and refused to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration.

The photos are included in Karl’s book, Betrayal, the Final act of the Trump show.

Giuliani denied being drunk, and attacked Miller and Stepien.

‘I am disgusted and outraged at the out right lie by Jason Miller and Bill Steppien (sic). I was upset that they were not prepared for the massive cheating (as well as other lawyers around the President) I REFUSED all alcohol that evening. My favorite drink..Diet Pepsi,’ he wrote on Twitter Tuesday.

Panel Republican Rep. Liz Cheney tweeted out a statement Tuesday quoting Barr as saying Trump’s fraud claims were ‘complete nonsense.’
