Ellen DeGeneres shares hilarious bloopers clip of her reading a children’s book to her dogs… following a flash flood near her home

Ellen DeGeneres took to Twitter on Wednesday with a hilarious clip of outtakes, where she attempted to read her children’s book ‘Little Ellen’ to her dogs.

The television host, 64, was seated on an outdoor lounger as she attempted to get her three canine companions to listen, but they proved to be a tough audience and interrupted her with frequent scratching, moving and jumping out of the frame.

The video was taken on a sunny day, which was a stark difference from the recent clip the entertainer shared of the flash flood near her Montecito home, following heavy rains in California

The adorable blooper reel – which she captioned ‘Sometimes the outtakes are the best part’ – started out with Ellen gently reprimanding her dog, who was busy licking himself.

‘No, no,’ the Primetime Emmy Award told her pooch, ‘Let’s not do that. That’s only at parties.’

Ellen sported a bright red sweater over a button up plaid top, along with blue jeans and sneakers for the clip.

Ellen proceeded to read from her book – based on her animated series – which was published in May of 2022.

Her other dog suddenly made his way into the frame and did a shake off motion, interrupting her reading, as she watched bemused.

A helper attempted to assist then, trying to get one of the dogs to lay down, to no success.

Ellen – who’s been married to actress Portia de Rossi since 2008 – then explained why she was reading to the pups: ‘There is nothing more magical than reading to children. But we don’t have children, we have dogs.’

She attempted to read yet again, but the dogs did not appear to appreciate the effort, with one jumping off the lounger.

‘Oh, okay,’ Ellen commented.

She then made a joke about her famous neighbor Oprah Winfrey: ‘I swear to God every time we’re shooting, Oprah is doing something at her house.’

Last year DeGeneres’ children’s book topped a publisher’s list of publications that teach kids about ‘choosing kindness and bullying prevention.’

The animated children’s book, illustrated by Eleanor Michalka, tells the story of DeGeneres as a child in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The adorable clip comes two days after DeGeneres braved treacherous conditions outside her home in Montecito, California, to show the ‘unprecedented rain’ the town is being hammered with on Monday night.

Wearing just a gray sweatshirt, the comedian showed how a creek next to her home was raging during the powerful storm — blaming it on climate change.

‘The creek next to our home never floods, never,’ she said, revealing: ‘It’s probably about 9 feet up.

‘We need to be nicer to Mother Nature, cause Mother Nature’s not happy with us,’ she continued.

The entire area of Montecito, home to notable names like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as well as Oprah Winfrey, was urgently ordered to evacuate Monday afternoon ahead of the powerful storm which has already killed 14 people.

Dangerous conditions: Two days prior DeGeneres urged people to 'be kind to Mother Nature' as she documented how the creek next to her Montecito, California home was overflowing, following heavy rains in California
