Elon Musk’s baby mamas bury the hatchet

Elon Musk’s feuding baby mamas, Grimes and Shivon Zills, bury the hatchet after the singer accused the billionaire of preventing her from seeing her kids

  • A series of Sunday evening tweets between Grimes and Zilis confirm there is no bad blood between the pair, both of whom are mothers to Musk’s children
  • Last week, Grimes sent a tweet claiming that Zilis had blocked her and Musk was preventing her from seeing her son
  • It was later revealed that Musk and Grimes, formerly a romantic couple, had welcomed a third child together, Techno ‘Tau’ Machinus

Mother to three of Elon Musk‘s children, Grimes, has issued a ceasefire between herself and one of the billionaire’s other baby mamas after her tweet last week sparked speculation of infighting in the House of Musk.

Last week, Grimes – whose real name is Claire Boucher – accused the SpaceX founder of preventing her from seeing her son, and Neuralink director Shivon Zilis – mother to two of Musk’s children – of blocking her.

In a Sunday evening tweet, however, Grimes appeared to put all that behind her, saying she is ‘excited to become friends’ with Zilis, 37, and have their ‘kids grow up together.’

‘Women are so often pitted against each other. Speaking with Shivon, it’s very evident she’s an amazing human and we both just want what’s best for our kids,’ Grimes wrote on X.

Zilis, mom to twins who were recently pictured, called Grimes a ‘badass’ in response and said their lengthy conversation, during which the air was cleared, had been ‘insanely overdue.’

Claire Boucher, known by her stage name Grimes, wrote a tweet last week that triggered speculation of distress among the growing Musk clan

Grimes posted the message beneath a picture of Musk's twins Strider and Azure (pictured here aged 16 months with their parents Musk and Shivon Zilis). The pair were born in November 2021, just weeks before Musk and Grimes had their second child via surrogate

Grimes called to ‘de-escalate the narrative’ that she set ablaze last week when she tweeted at Musk biographer Walter Isaacson asking him to pass along a message to Zilis.

‘I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart,’ she wrote.

Grimes made the since-deleted posts to X, formally Twitter, after it was revealed that Musk had father twins with Zills – Strider and Azure – and the duo arrived just weeks before Musk and Grimes’ second child was born via surrogate.

The details were included in the upcoming biography of Musk by Isaacson that features several revelations about one of the world’s richest men.

Grimes, a futuristic singer, who dated Musk on-and-off for three-and-a-half years, appears to have called a truce over he allegations. She added in her Sunday post she has ‘totally forgive[n] the situation’ and that ‘women are so often pitted against each other’ – an outcome she hopes to avoid with Zilis.

‘I spoke with Shivon at length finally, which was long overdue. This wasn’t her fault, plz don’t be angry at her! We respect each other a lot and we’re excited to become friends and have the kids grow up together,’ wrote Grimes in a lengthy tweet.

‘I truly apologize for responding to Walter like that. As u can imagine, that was a very gut level reaction to a thing that has been very hard for me. Communication about the twins wasn’t handled super well in the past, but I now totally understand what happened and totally forgive the situation.

‘Speaking with Shivon, it’s very evident she’s an amazing human and we both just want what’s best for our kids,’ she wrote.

The love appears to be mutual, as Zilis was quick to reply: ‘At the end of the day it all ended up for the best! Thank you for taking the time to really connect and understand each other. So glad we had such a wonderful talk, was insanely overdue.

‘You’re a total badass and I respect you very much as well. I can’t wait for kiddo play date and congrats on baby Tau as well!’ referring to Grimes and Musk’s recently revealed third child together, a boy named Techno ‘Tau’ Mechanicus.

Grimes' tweet was promptly deleted, but was written underneath a new image of Musk and the twins he had with Zilis

Musk, 52, was already known to share two children with the 35-year-old singer: three-year-old son X Æ A-12, who goes by 'X' (with him above), and one-year-old daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, known affectionately as 'Y,' before it was revealed last week that the former couple welcomed a third bundle of joy, Techno 'Tau' Mechanicus

Grimes also gestured toward the newest addition to her family, writing: ‘I wish I could show u how cute little Techno is, but my priority rn is keeping my babies out of the public eye, Plz respect that at this time.’

The latest baby’s existence was revealed earlier this week in review of Isaacson’s biography of Musk in the New York Times. It is not clear how old Tau is.

It is also not entirely clear what steps were taken to resolve Grimes’ other complaint that Musk was not allowing her to see her son – a claim that could be referring to either X or Tau.

Musk’s complicated personal life has involved three marriages and three divorces, including two of each with the same woman, as well as eight children from two long-term romances plus the twins with Zilis they conceived via in vitro fertilization.

Elon started dating Grimes in April 2018. The eccentric couple captured headlines when they made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala the following month.

Amid a series of breakups and reconnections, the pair welcomed their first son ‘X AE A-XII’ in May 2020.

Their second child Exa Dark Sideræl, who is called Y, was born via surrogate in December 2021.

Musk’s other children are the result of his union with his first ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson.

He married Justine Wilson in 2000. Their first son Nevada tragically passed away at 10 weeks old in 2002. The couple then welcomed twins Griffin and Xavier in 2004.

Xavier – now 19 – has since transitioned genders to female. She is called Vivian and has dropped her father’s famous surname – after telling a court that she ‘no longer wishes to be related’ to him ‘in any way.’

Zilis, who was born in Ontario, Canada, met Musk through OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research-and-deployment nonprofit Musk co-founded in 2015, Insider reported.

In 2015, Zilis was on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in the venture-capital category and in 2017, joined Musk’s brain chip company Neuralink as the director of operations and special projects, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She studied economics and philosophy at Yale where she also played goalie on the women’s ice-hockey team.

Musk and Zilis filed a petition in April last year to change the twins’ names in order to ‘have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name,’ according to the court documents.

Isaacson wrote that Zilis has been Musk’s ‘intellectual companion on artificial intelligence since the founding of OpenAI.’

The picture of Musk, Zilis and the twins – posted by Musk’s biographer Walter Isaacson – was taken at Zilis’ house in Austin, Texas, according to an excerpt of the biography published in Time.

Not much is known about the twins Musk shares with Zilis. The picture posted by Isaacson is the first public image that has been shared of them, and their names, Strider and Azure, were revealed just last week.
