EMILY PRESCOTT: David Beckham celebrates as his favourite deli opens near his Chipping Norton home

EMILY PRESCOTT: Puff pastry and Becks! Former England captain David celebrates his favourite deli opening up at the end of his road saving himself a 45-minute drive every time he fancies a sausage roll

David Beckham has been gushing in his praise for his favourite deli’s sausage rolls to his 77 million Instagram followers – and it seems to have paid dividends.

The firm is opening a new outlet… right at the end of his road.

His treats had come from the original Cotswold Guy shop, a 45-minute drive from Beckham’s Chipping Norton home, so now the ex-footballer will no longer have to climb into his Land Rover Defender every time he fancies a meaty snack.

Crush of the week: Alice Straker

Food artist Alice Straker  certainly has talent – you could say that creating mouthwatering portraits of treats such as chocolate eclairs is a piece of cake for her. Alice, 32, tells me it all began as a child when she saw a cake in a London restaurant and thought it was the most beautiful thing ever.

Food runs in the family: twin brother Thomas is a chef, and could be busy soon as Alice’s wedding is approaching. She is engaged to George Cotterell, whose mother was a lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of York.

Emilia: This job is dead good

Actress Emilia Fox is so immersed in her TV role as Dr Nikki Alexander in Silent Witness that she wishes she was a forensic pathologist in real life.

Emilia says: ‘I love the way the show looks at crime-solving through the medical side of things. I wish I’d done something like that with my life.’

And although the role has brought Emilia fame and fortune, she confesses it does have a gloomy side. ‘It makes me think about death a lot,’ she adds.

After writing an astonishing 78 books, including a series of romantic novels for Mills & Boon, I wonder whether Sarah Ferguson’s next project will be for the screen?

I only ask because the Duchess of York’s co-author, Marguerite Kaye, claims Fergie writes with a ‘Netflix perspective’ in mind.

Well, Fergie confesses that she loves a challenge and after the success of The Crown and Harry and Meghan’s revealing documentary on Netflix, surely there’s appetite for yet another Royal saga!
