Emma Corrin has revealed they feel more ‘seen’ when using ‘they/them’ pronouns and reflected on coming out to their family when they started dating a girl.

The Crown actor, 26, spoke about gender fluidity as they appeared as Vogue‘s August 2022 cover star and posed for a series of sensational photographs.

Last year, Emma changed their pronouns to she/they on her Instagram bio and later said they wanted to be ‘very authentic’ with their platform.

They have since changed their pronouns to ‘they/them’ on the social media site and opened up about why they feel more comfortable using those pronouns.

Speaking to Vogue magazine, Emma explained that they feel ‘more seen’ when they are referred to by gender neutral terms.

‘I feel much more seen when I’m referred to as ‘they,’ but my closest friends, they will call me ‘she,’ and I don’t mind, because I know they know me,’ Emma said.

Emma said that they don’t feel that gender is ‘fixed’ and explained that they might always feel fluid about their gender identity in some ways.

The My Policeman star also reflected on how supportive their family were when they came out and told them about their relationship with a woman.

‘I started dating a girl and told my mum, and then my little brother DM’d me saying, “hey, I wanted to say welcome, because I’ve been bi for ages”,’ Emma explained.

But Emma admitted that they have struggled with the clothing in some of their acting jobs, particularly when having to wear bras in Lady Chatterley’s Lover, which is yet to be released.

They said: ‘I remember struggling with having to wear bras in Chatterley and as Marion, but it’s quite difficult, because I’m not Emma, right? I’m an actor, and I have a job to do.’

As well as opening up about their gender identity in an interview, Emma also posed up a storm for a series of impressive photographs.

For their cover look, Emma cut an edgy figure in a Louis Vuitton tank dress and a Cartier chain necklace, while their hair and make-up was done by Jimmy Paul and Dick Page.

Another shot saw Emma capture attention in a dramatic red Comme des Garçons FW96 coat and dress, which they paired with Proenza Schouler shoes.

The Pennyworth star also sported a sensational pink and gold Marni gown, styled with sparkling silver Maison Margiela gloves, and black chunky Miu Miu boots.

In a final shot for the magazine, Emma looked stylish in a checkered navy vest from Miu Miu and blue track pants and sneakers, from Adidas Originals by Wales Bonner.
