England, Poland and Switzerland all choose same song to mark World Cup goals

Celebration time… but for which team? England, Poland and Switzerland all choose same song to mark World Cup goals

  • England, Switzerland and Poland chosen Freed From Desire for goal celebration
  • Three Lions, who beat Iran on Monday, have backup tune of Dua Lipa’s One Kiss
  • France opted for Song 2 by Blur and Germany have chosen a Nickelback track

It’s a song you’ll hear blasted throughout the stadium every time England hits the back of the net in Qatar.

But the Three Lions might have to endure the pain of Europop hit Freed From Desire if they concede against Poland and Switzerland in the World Cup.

All three nations have chosen the song as their goal celebration which could be awkward if they play each other.

Although England, who had the chance to play the song six times during their victory against Iran on Monday, have a backup tune of Dua Lipa’s One Kiss, the other two countries do not.

World Cup organiser Fifa asked competing nations to pick a song and a list of the requests was obtained by the Guardian.

Switzerland scored only once against Cameroon yesterday and Poland fans are yet to hear the tune following their 0-0 draw against Mexico on Tuesday.

Canada have decided to go with Going Bad which features their native music star Drake while the United States picked Feel So Good, released in 1997, by American rapper Mase.

Hosts Qatar and Senegal appear not have chosen a track.
