Eva Mendes reveals her and Ryan Gosling’s parenting tactics

Eva Mendes offers a rare insight into how she and partner Ryan Gosling parent their daughters – as she admits it’s been stressful raising two children in Sydney without her family

Eva Mendes has recently moved herself and her two daughters to Sydney to support their father Ryan Gosling as he films his new movie The Fall Guy.

Now the actress, 48, has opened up about the stress of raising two daughters away from her support network in America.

She also revealed to Daily Mail Australia on Friday the details of her and her movie star partner’s parenting dynamics, saying they’re ‘pretty much on the same terms’.

‘I’m sure just because we have our own, like we’re our own person and then we come with our own strengths and stuff, but we’re pretty much on the same terms, on like how we parent,’ the Hitch actress said.

‘So it’s pretty cool. I know someone earlier said, “Who’s good cop? Who’s bad cop?” I’m like, there is none. I have never thought of it that way.

‘But like, we’re talkers. We like to talk it all out with the kids. We like to make them feel like they have a voice and that they’re heard, you know?’

She went on to say their daughters Esmerelda, eight, and Amada, six, don’t always get their own way, but Eva and Ryan, 42, are happy to concede when they ‘make a good point’.

It comes after she revealed to 9Honey Celebrity she’s struggled to manage two children during her temporary move to Sydney now that she’s so far away from her usual support network.

‘I definitely haven’t figured out a balance yet. It’s kind of a day-to-day thing. I ask people for advice all the time,’ she said.

‘I would like to be a bit more balanced, but right now, especially now that we’re living in Sydney, I notice things like, I don’t have my sister here, I don’t have [Ryan’s] sister, I don’t have his mum, I don’t have my mum, so the work is falling on us completely.

‘It’s definitely a bit more stressful, but at the same time, it’s like, “Look, we’re here, we’re making some really fun memories.”‘
