Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador will seek rehab treatment for alcoholism after receiving a ‘wake up call’ when she crashed her car while driving under the influence.

The 59-year-old reality TV veteran was taken into custody following a DUI and a hit-and-run incident in Newport Beach, LA, on Saturday, when she reportedly drove her car into a residential property before leaving the scene.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, friends of the troubled reality star have revealed how the shock car smash has served as a brutal ‘wake-up call’ for the mother-of-three, who has – according to insiders – spent years ignoring her friends’ pleas to seek help for her ‘problems’.

‘Shannon plans to enter rehab after her DUI arrest was a huge “wake-up call” for her, an inside source revealed exclusively to DailyMail.com.

‘Shannon has spent the past several years running from her problems and she does not realize who she has turned into. Her cast mates and her friends have told her that she needs to get help, and this was before the DUI.’

Shannon Beador, 59 (seen doing shots in season 17 of RHOC), is planning to enter rehab to overcome alcoholism after getting arrested for DUI on Saturday

A Real Housewives of Orange County source told DailyMail.com exclusively that the horrifying arrest was a 'huge wake up call' for Shannon

In a video obtained by TMZ Shannon was seen speeding around a residential neighborhood before smashing into a house

Shannon has ‘not fully decided on if she will do in-patient treatment or out-patient, as she has a family to care for, a dog who needs her and her work projects,’ the source added.

The news comes just hours after footage of Shannon’s crash was released by TMZ, with the clip appearing to show the reality star careering out of control before crashing into a house.

She is then seen slowly reversing before driving away. TMZ claims a source said she eventually parked in the middle of the street and then got out of the car with her dog.

According to the police report, officers arrived on the scene to find Shannon seemingly nonchalant. She ‘appeared wasted,’ eyewitnesses claim, and was subsequently taken into custody.

The Newport Beach Police Department confirmed she was booked for both the hit-and-run and DUI alcohol charges. She was released without bond.

Shannon’s lawyer, Michael Fell, told DailyMail.com: ‘Shannon is extremely apologetic and remorseful. We will be awaiting the official information on this case as it becomes available, and Shannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions.’

Her former RHOC co-star Kelly Dodd said she hopes the mom-of-three will ‘learn from’ the arrest and become a ‘better’ and ‘stronger person’ as a result.

The hit-and-run DUI comes days after fans saw her castmate Gina Kirschenheiter blow up at Shannon for continuing to bring up Gina’s DUI arrest, which happened four years ago. Gina has been sober for several years.

The RHOC insider told DailyMail.com exclusively: ‘Shannon trashed Gina for her DUI on the show and her words are coming back to bite her in the a** now.’

‘Gina is taking the high road and is not going to do the same thing to Shannon that she did to her. Her silence speaks volumes about how far she’s come since her own DUI.’

The reality personality 'has not fully decided if she wants to do in-patient or out-patient' treatment, the source said

It has been a tough year for Shannon who split from her beau John Janssen, seen together at WWHL, in November 2022 after nearly four years of dating

Shannon is a mother to three daughters; Sophie, 21, and twins Adeline and Stella, both 18

The 39-year-old reality star was also outraged that Shannon kept saying that she had been close to getting her kids taken away by Child Protective Services (CPS) on the day of her DUI arrest.

Shannon furiously denied saying that the CPS was going to take Gina’s children, but a video proved otherwise.

‘Shannon says s*** and then she wants to pretend she didn’t do it,’ Gina said in a confessional. ‘And if you can say things that are that f***ing hurtful and not even remember you said it, you need to go f***ing check yourself into rehab. And then when you do and you get to the f***ing I’m sorry step, I’ll be waiting for that apology.’

Shannon also suffered a huge heartbreak when her relationship with boyfriend John Janssen broke down after four years in November 2022.

In July, Shannon was reportedly removed from a bar in Orange County for screaming at John’s daughter.

The alleged argument occurred at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa, where Shannon was spending time with John and his family after their split.

The motive for the ‘wild’ behavior was unknown, but an eyewitness told the Instagram account @igfamousbydana that Shannon looked ‘wasted’ and ‘had to be held back and removed by security’.

Speaking to PageSix, John said: ‘Yes, there was an argument, but it was at the end of the night, the lights were up, and everyone was being asked to leave.’

Shannon was previously married to David Beador with whom she has daughter Sophie, 21, and 18-year-old twins Stella and Adeline.
