Fleur East received an ‘eerie’ message from her late father via a psychic

‘Tell her I’m so proud of her and give her all the luck’: Fleur East received an ‘eerie but comforting’ message from her late father via a psychic ahead of her Strictly debut

Fleur East received an ‘eerie but comforting’ message from her late father ahead of her forthcoming Strictly Come Dancing debut on Saturday night.

The former X Factor star, 34, told how her cousin went to see a psychic medium last weekend and they delivered a tear-jerking good luck message from her dad Malcolm, who passed away in March 2020 after suffering a heart attack.

Speaking on her Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Wednesday, Fleur played a voice note from her cousin in which the medium revealed she’s communicating with ‘a spirit called Malcolm’ who has a daughter that ‘sings or dances’.

The psychic went on to say: ‘[Malcolm’s] daughter is about to start something, she’s about to start an adventure, as he’s calling it. He says to tell her I’m so proud of her and give her all the luck in the world.’

The singer explained: ‘In 72 hours I’ll be dancing live for the first time and it’s really exciting but something really weird has happened to me ahead of the Strictly weekend.

‘On Sunday I had a message from one of my cousins who had been to see a medium – people that speak to the spirit world.

‘I’ve never gone to a medium because I do believe in it and I’m quite scared about going because I never wanted to test it. But my cousin went and this happened.

‘So my Dad passed away in 2020, his name was Malcolm and apparently he came through and wished me good luck ahead of Strictly.’

Fleur described receiving the message as an ‘eerie but comforting’ experience because she has been ‘so anxious’ about not having her beloved late father around for such a big moment in her life.

She added: ‘Is that not really weird? It’s eerie but it’s really comforting as well.

‘Leading up to Strictly has been so nerve-racking and I’ve been so anxious and not having my Dad here for the first time before something so big in my life is huge.

‘So to get a message like that is the set up I needed before the big weekend.’

Fleur previously admitted she chose to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing in honour of her late father, who was a huge fan of the BBC One competition.

She said: ‘I hope I get to dance to some of my songs. For me, it’s quite emotional. My dad who passed away in 2020, Strictly was his favourite show. I’m going to be doing it for him.

‘I’m just gutted he can’t see me do it, but I’m going to keep him in mind during the show. I’m excited. My family, just for that reason, will be buzzing. I wasn’t expecting to get this emotional about it.’

After she was announced as a contestant last month, Fleur said: ‘I’m equally nervous and thrilled to be part of this year’s Strictly line up. I’m excited to learn new skills and I want to soak up every moment of this magical experience.

‘It’s such an honour to be on the show after years of watching it with my father who loved it so much.

‘Unfortunately my Dad is no longer with us but I know he will be watching over the ballroom in spirit. I’m doing this to make him and my family proud and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on!’

After Malcom’s death, Fleur shared a heartfelt tribute to him on Instagram, writing: ‘Cheering me on until the end. You taught me and [sister] Keshia to be confident and to always chase our dreams.

‘I will forever continue to make you proud. I’m so happy you saw us achieve so much. Every note I sing, every song I write and everything I do, will be for you.

‘This album is for you Dad. Love you so much Daddy Darling. Have an amazing time up there! See you soon.’

Fleur finished as runner-up in series 11 of The X Factor in 2014, and has since become a regular face in the world of music and broadcasting.

As a singer she has released two albums, with her debut single Sax reaching number three in the UK singles chart.

After appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018 she became host of the Hits Radio Breakfast Show which she hosts every weekday.

Fleur has also appeared as a presenter on the last three series of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and a host of ITV gameshow The Void.
