A furious soccer dad has been charged with malicious wounding after he allegedly knocked out his children’s coach with a metal water bottle while his child’s team was losing a match.

Vince Villanueva, a soccer coach from northern Virgina, was filling in for his friend at a match held on Saturday afternoon at George Hellwig Memorial Parl in Manassas, Virginia

Vince, who is the head coach of the varsity girls’ soccer team at nearby Potomac Senior High School, said that he wasn’t exactly sure why 45-year-old dad Blerand Hoxha attacked him at around 2pm that day.

He said the only thing he remembered was that Hoxha’s son’s team was losing badly.

‘The father went over to talk to the son and then when I went to get him and put him back in the game, I said “Are you okay?” And he said, “No he’s not. Coach can I talk to you?”

‘Then everything went downhill from there,’ Coach Vince, who has been coaching since he was 18, recalled.

Thankfully, the park was full of ‘off-duty police officers’, who Vince said helped get kids to a safe space, and managed to calm the situation down.

Vince said that he had never met or even seen Hoxha before, and that this was the first time anything like this had happened.

The coach recognised that while sports can get competitive, parents need to learn how to deal with this appropriately for the sake of their children.

‘Kids have enough stress in life with everything else in the world; Allow them to have that moment of some place to escape from.’
