‘It was like Coachella!’: Halsey says the bat mitzvah she performed at for Adam Sandler’s daughter that Jennifer Aniston attended was ‘craziest’
Halsey dished this week about being hired to perform at the bat mitzvah Adam Sandler threw for his daughter Sunny.
The 27-year-old singing star said the party was ‘the craziest bat mitzvah I’ve ever seen in my life, as you would expect from Adam Sandler.’
What a gig: Halsey dished this week about being hired to perform at the bat mitzvah Adam Sandler threw for his daughter Sunny
As seen in 2016: Adam has been married to his wife Jackie since 2003 and they are the proud parents of two daughters – Sadie, 16, and Sunny, 13
Halsey remembered: ‘And also I was like: “Wow, you guys booked me?” I was really honored! But his daughters are great and he’s so amazing.’
The New Jersey-born pop act said: ‘It was a really cool full circle moment too, because when I was a kid, his movies used to play in my house all the time, right? And my dad is a huge golfer and loved Happy Gilmore, used to watch it all the time. And so my first sentence that I ever spoke in my life was: “Go home, ball.”‘
Halsey remembered: ‘So I would run around like a baby, like crawling around the floor, like: “Go to your home, ball!”‘
In a beloved scene in Happy Gilmore, Adam’s character is encouraged to ‘send ’em home’ – meaning hit a golf ball into the hole.
Wow: Along with Halsey, Charlie Puth was hired to perform, and the star-studded guest list included Adam’s old co-stars Jennifer Aniston (left) and Taylor Lautner (right)
‘I couldn’t believe it!’: During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , the Without Me hitmaker gushed: ‘I mean, it was like Coachella’
Adam excitedly says: ‘Time to go home there, ball,’ but when he fails to score a hole, he begins screaming: ‘Son of a b****, ball, why don’t you just go home? That’s your home! Are you too good for your home? Answer me! Suck my white a**, ball!’
In real life he has been married to his wife Jackie since 2003 and they are the proud parents of two daughters – Sadie, 16, and Sunny, 13.
Last week on the Tonight Show he said his children had ‘a bat mitzvah and a sweet 16 on the same weekend,’ joking: ‘It was such a giant party we threw for them, me and my wife, that I literally had to sign a new 10-picture deal with Netflix to pay for it.’
Along with Halsey, Charlie Puth was hired to perform, and the star-studded guest list included Adam’s old co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Lautner.
The downside was that the fete was so lavish and over-the-top that it ‘warped’ the children’s idea of what a bat mitzvah is usually like.
Sunny went to another bat mitzvah shortly thereafter, and after that party one of her friends complained to Adam that the evening was ‘lame’ and that in lieu of celebrities ‘the kid’s grandmother sang karaoke!’
Adam said that the grandmother touch was ‘actually nice’ – and then joked to Jimmy: ‘And it was actually Barbra Streisand.’
