EXCLUSIVE – Swooning fans reveal disappointment they weren’t at Hampstead Heath public ponds to catch a glimpse of Harry Styles going for a swim
Harry Styles fans are disappointed that they were not at Hampstead Heath’s public swimming pond to catch a glimpse of the shirtless pop star going for a swim.
Fans arrived in their droves today to the public swimming pond hoping to see a repeat performance of him strutting about topless showing off his impressive torso in his tight green swimming trunks.
The singer, 29, went shirtless to show off his physique and array of tattoos across his arms and chest as he walked along the dock barefoot yesterday to cool off in the British heatwave.
But admirers of the Watermelon Sugar hitmaker, who swooned over his pictures on MailOnline, were left disappointed today when he didn’t turn up again today.
Crest-fallen dog walker Davina Smith, 42, who had hoped to see the former One Directioner, sighed: ‘I can’t believe I missed him! I’m a huge fan. I’ve been to see him in concert and both my children love him to bits, particularly my 11-year-old son who is a super fan.’
Dr Davina Smith, a local GP, says she lives in hope that one day she’ll see topless Harry in his clinging green trunks, adding: ‘It’s great that he is just doing what locals do. I like the fact that he’s swimming in Hampstead ponds.’
Asked if she preferred his good looks and flowing brown locks or his music, she looked bashful and said: ‘Both. He’s not conventionally good-looking, but he has a lot of charisma. I do like his music.’
Another fan, history graduate Issy Jackson, 23, said she and her friend had come to the heath specifically to see the As It Was singer strutting around in his trunks.
‘We had heard that he was around,’ she swooned. ‘So my friend Maya and I have come in the hope we might see him.
‘I know that he’s also been around on his electric bike, so fingers crossed we might see him.’
Maya Zohar, 19, said: ‘It would be amazing to see Harry. I’ve been all the way to Vienna to see him in concert. I think he’s great.’
Rebecca Goodman, 23, who studied architecture, said: ‘I remember Harry from his One Direction days, and I used to watch him on X-Factor. I think he’s great.’
Her friend Ellie Woolwich, 23, a business consultant, added: ‘Harry is very good, but I am a bigger Ricky Gervais fan. He’s also around here quite a lot.’
Harry paid £4.50 like everyone else to swim in the male-only pond where the water was a comfortable 22.5C.
A source said: ‘When he comes along, he doesn’t make a fuss, he put on his trunks and dives in, and just enjoys himself.
‘We want him not to feel that he can’t come here and get the same respect everybody else has. Nobody makes a fuss of him, I think he prefers it that way.’
It comes after a cyclist passed the international pop star on Hampstead Heath last week.
In a short video uploaded to TikTok, a man is seen riding his bike across the picturesque north-west London enclave, only to pass Harry and his new girlfriend, actress Taylor Russell.
While the cyclist failed to Harry, his pet cat – perched inside his bike basket – certainly didn’t after catching sight of the singer’s dog, Root.
Spotting the canine from its elevated vantage point, the white moggy is seen meowing aggressively as they pass, drawing the attention of Harry and Taylor.
Harry was dressed casually for the outing in a light blue shirt along with a pair of dark trousers and a purple cap.
Taylor also opted for a laid back look as she paired a black jacket with a light skirt and stylish sunglasses.
The couple appeared to be enjoying a scenic stroll along the heath as they made the most of the warm weather.
It comes after Harry had secretly attended the press night of the actress’s new play The Effect at the National Theatre.
