A run-down old dairy farm that has been transformed into a stunning boutique getaway in Victoria is wowing guests with its stunning finishes, luxury details and beautiful countryside setting.

The Barn at Ross Farm, in Gippsland, Victoria, has been a labour of love for couple Lindsay and Robyn Moore for the past 15 years, after they bought the 2.5-acre property in 2005 and set about turning it into a countryside boutique accommodation.

Some 15 years later and after enlisting the help of their interior designer and stylist daughter Andrea, the Moores have three themed residences which have recently been short-listed for the interior design category of this year’s Design Files + Laminex Design Awards.

The Barn, The Dairy and The Cabin all offer different-sized accommodation for guests looking to get away from it all and truly escape.

The highlight of the accommodation options at Ross Farm is The Barn, which boasts a number of luxury finishes including a giant timber bath, a spiral staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows to soak up the view.

‘The fact the Barn doesn’t give much away on approach is something I really love about it. It just looks like a tin shed,’ Andrea told Real Estate.

‘But when you push open the over-sized steel pivot door and step inside, what you see is quite unexpected. It holds back the experience, rather than putting everything on show from the start.’

Features from the historic barn have been incorporated into the modern structure, like the corrugated iron from the old barn, which has been used to line the facade.

There are also plenty of modern elements, such as the use of granite throughout the home and bathroom, the rusted steel spiral staircase and Japanese wood.

The interiors have a Scandinavian feel, and a highlight in The Barn is a butcher’s block made from locally-sourced cypress by Lindsay Moore.

Elsewhere, guests will find light fittings produced from brass pipe and wash basins made from re-purposed drainpipes.

‘After years travelling the world and staying in Airbnbs, Ross Farm is quite possibly one of the standouts,’ one reviewer posted.

‘A great base to explore from, Ross Farm also made sure you never wanted to leave the barn. Cosy and spacious, Andrea and Lindsay have designed and built one of the most exceptional spaces to be still in.

‘We’re definitely coming back!’

Another added: ‘This is a wonderful spot to relax and chill. I am amazed by the fantastic interior design and particularly fond of the Robert Gordon collection in the kitchen’.
