Home and Away star Emily Symons reminisces about meeting the Queen at the Golden Jubilee in 2002

Home and Away star Emily Symons has paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

The 53-year-old shared the moment she met the late monarch during the Queen’s Golden Jubilee tour of Great Britain in 2002.

Posting a throwback photo of the occasion to her Instagram, Emily said it was a day that she will never forget.

Emily, dressed in an elegant black outfit, can be seen in the picture shaking hands with a smiling Queen Elizabeth II.

All three co-starred with the Aussie favourite when Emily appeared in the long-running British soap Emmerdale between 2001-2008.

Emily wrote in the caption that she had watched the Queen’s funeral on television with her son Henry.

The six-year-old asked during the farewell whether his soap star mother had ever met the sovereign.

‘It was such a great honour to meet her with my dear friends from Emmerdale,’ Emily reminisced in her Instagram Stories.

‘I will never forget this day and her beautiful smile. Vale Queen Elizabeth.’

Emily shares Henry, six, with her former partner Paul Jackson.

The ageless beauty first rose to fame as the character Marilyn Chambers on Home and Away in 1989.

Later, Emily pursued a career in the UK, where she appeared in the hit series Emmerdale.

In 2010, the beloved actress reprised her role in Home and Away.
