Horror on Sydney’s northern beaches as a swimmer’s body is pulled from the water

A man has been pulled from the water after horrified locals spotted his lifeless body floating face down.

Emergency services were called to the Newport Anchorage Marina in Pittwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches at about 11am on Saturday. 

‘The man, believed to be aged in his 60s was pulled from the water and officers from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command attempted to revive him until paramedics arrived on the scene,’ New South Wales police said in a statement.

But New South Wales Ambulance confirmed he was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

‘Investigators are now investigating the circumstances around his death and a report will be prepared for the coroner,’ police said.

The identity of the man is still unknown.
