And Bondi couple Nick Pembroke and Lavinia White have revealed that going on the run together, while stressful at times, actually strengthened their relationship.

‘It was really nice to be able to rely on each other and have each other’s back and I think it made us really proud of each other,’ she explained.

She added: ‘We learned a lot about ourselves and each other and we just worked so well as a team.’

Nick echoed these sentiments, agreeing their time on the show was the ‘best’ thing they could have done before getting married.

He said that after making it so far in the competition with Lavinia, he’d never been ‘more sure and excited to spend the rest of my life’ with her.

Lavinia and Nick were at the centre of controversy on Sunday’s episode when fans accused the hunters of bending the rules in order to capture them.

They spent a fortnight completely off the grid by avoiding friends and family, and not using the bank cards given to them at the start of the competition.

But eventually the pair found themselves in need of money because they were getting ‘cold, tired and hungry’.

However, just as they went to withdraw the cash they were entitled to spend, as per the rules of the game, the hunters decided to throw a spanner in the works.

They froze the pair’s ATM card in a bid to catch them, even though all the other teams had taken advantage of this emergency cash resource.

The hunters ended up catching Nick that episode, leaving Lavinia on her own.
