EXCLUSIVE ‘I am definitely single!’: Gemma Owen rubbishes claims she’s dating grime star Bugzy Malone, insisting she is happy alone as she launches first PrettyLittleThing range
Gemma Owen has rubbished claims she’s dating Bugzy Malone and insists she is happy single.
The former Love Island star, 19, told MailOnline that she has ‘never met or spoken to’ the grime artist, 32, and she isn’t dating following her split from Luca Bish.
In an exclusive interview, Gemma, who today launches her first collection with PrettyLittleThing, confirmed that the TikTok rumour surrounding herself and Bugzy, real name Aaron Davies, is inaccurate and the pair don’t even follow each other on social media.
MailOnline revealed in November that Gemma and co-star Luca, 23, had ended their two-month relationship after the romantic spark between them dwindled once they left the ITV2 villa last summer.

Gemma said: ‘I have never met or spoken to him and we don’t follow each other on social media. I am not dating and I am definitely single.
‘Just after Christmas, I had much needed time with my family and friends and I am working on myself. I am not going to date anytime soon and I’m not looking.
‘On a personal level, I want to work on my happiness and investing time in people close to me, my family and friends and just being content in myself.’

PLT’s desire to collaborate with Gemma came after she finished runner-up on Love Island last year alongside ex-boyfriend, Brighton fish monger Luca, and she amassed over 2million Instagram followers.
Gemma says unlike some of her former co-stars that have spoken out about difficulties with trolling and mental health, she has managed to avoid any negativity following the guidance of her famous father, Michael Owen, who understands the inner workings of the entertainment industry.
She said: ‘I have been lucky with my mental health. I haven’t suffered a great deal, obviously you get the odd moment when you’re not feeling as positive but that’s normal. Overall, I feel quite lucky and my experience has been largely positive.
‘My whole family are really supportive. My mum and dad are supportive and proud of everything I do. They have guided me through everything. It’s been so helpful having my dad to talk to these past few months. I really appreciate him because he knows how things work in this industry.
‘My mum is more clothes and helping with the PLT collection launch and my dad is everything else.’

The winter series of Love Island kicked off on Monday night with host Maya Jama and the drama has already begun with bombshell Tom Clare thrown in to breakup one of the newly-formed couples.
Gemma will be watching the show from the comfort of her sofa but says she’s going to avoid getting involved with any potential controversies, opting to keep her opinions off social media.
She said: ‘It is quite odd, watching it from the other side of the screen.
‘Since I’ve been in there and I know what’s going on and now watching it from the other point of view again, it is strange. It will be enjoyable to watch and I wish all of the new Islanders the best.
‘I didn’t feel too many nerves going in, I just threw myself into it. The challenges were one of the things I was apprehensive about but you go and enjoy it, be yourself and in the end it was a good time. It took a while and I found once the first week or two were out of the way, I was able to settle in.
‘I am probably going to keep quiet and let them do their thing in the villa and see how it all pans out…’

Despite the fame and fortune she now has in her own right, Gemma isn’t looking to buy a property or relocate to London as she priorities being close to her loved ones
Gemma lives at home on her family’s grand estate in north Wales where she tends to her horses and remains close to dad, former England striker Michael, mum, equestrian Louise, brother James, 16, and sisters Emily, 14, and Jessica, 12.
Despite the fame and fortune she now has in her own right, Gemma isn’t looking to buy a property or relocate to London as she priorities being close to her loved ones.
She said: ‘I will move out eventually but right now where I have my horses at home and I am close with my family I am happy where I am but maybe in the near future I will look to get somewhere. I would make sense to be in London someday.’
Her extended family were glued to ITV2 when she starred on Love Island last summer but Gemma predicts that her dad, who was always against her going on the dating show, and extended family, will opt out of tuning into the new series.
She added: ‘My sisters will watch the show again, they are Love Island fans but I’m not sure my grandparents are going to be watching this time… it was just a one off.’

Gemma’s new collection with PrettyLittleThing, which is available to buy online from Monday at 4pm, has been created by the influencer, who says the pieces are a reflection of her style.
She’s now synonymous with neutral shades and classic tailoring but says the new range even features a print inspired by a designer dress she owns from Mugler.
Gemma said: ‘I’m so excited because we have been working on this collection since September last year.
‘I’ve had a real input in the designs and I’ve been able to turn my visions into real life. Everything is really authentic to me and it’s just gorgeous.
‘The collection is classic looks that represent my style. I feel like they are pieces that can never really go out of fashion and you can wear them season after season.
Gemma says her mum Louise already has her eye on some pieces from her first PrettyLittleThing collection, which has been designed with classic style in mind
‘We have stuck to the neutral kind of earthy tones but we do have a print in there as well, which is quite out there for me but it is so gorgeous and we took some inspiration from a Mugler dress I wore at an event a few months back.
‘Everyone knows by now neutrals are my go to so doing a print and having that bit of colour was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone but I’m so happy with how it turned out.’
Gemma says the line, which ranges in price from £10-£38 and sizes 4 to 30, can be worn casually or dressed up and is suitable for any age, given her mum already has her eye on some of the pieces.
She continued: ‘We have added little details like gold hardware so you can easily dress some pieces up and down. There’s lots of co-ordinates and loungewear too, which is perfect for this time of year.
‘We’re working on the next edit already, which will be spring/summer, around the races and I would love to shoot in Italy.
‘Obviously, I’m really close to my mum so she’s seen it from the early stages. She has seen the samples and has been involved with the design process and everything. She loves it and there are some gorgeous pieces that she’s already got her eye on. She better be wearing it!’
