Irina Shayk, 37, smolders on Vogue Spain cover as she talks age inclusivity in fashion

Irina Shayk, 37, smolders on Vogue Spain cover as she talks fashion industry ‘accepting that women are beautiful well past their 20s’

Irina Shayk was a smoldering sensation as she made her grand return to the cover of Vogue Spain, which she first fronted in 2013.

Snapped by Elizaveta Porodina, the 37-year-old Russian supermodel treated the camera to a tantalizing come-hither stare.

‘I think that fashion has totally changed in the last five years,’ she told the magazine.  ‘And part of that process is accepting that women are beautiful well past their 20s.’

Irina insisted: ‘We must celebrate and support that variety. I just turned 37, I don’t think I have to reach a certain age at which I’m considered finished.’

She cited the 1990s Supermodels, whose number includes Cindy Crawford, still a glamour icon at the age of 56.

Irina, who shares her daughter Lea De Seine, five, with her ex Bradley Cooper, said the old Supermodels ‘are all working and they are fantastic.’

She noted that having a baby also raised the question of ‘whether you can be sexy or continue to pose in lingerie, but being a mother does not mean that you have to wear specific clothes and go to bed at a certain time.’

Said she: ‘It doesn’t mean giving up on being yourself. You have to legitimize your feelings, be honest with yourself and bottle up the guilt.’

During her wide-ranging interview, she also discussed the ‘social pressure’ she felt to have a baby and pointed out the role that age played.

‘In my country, if you have children after the age of 18 or 20, it seems that you are already late,’ she said, referring to her Russian heritage.

With a laugh, she lovingly recalled her grandmother needling her to get married and have children the way her sister had done.

Irina, who hails from an industrial Soviet town on the slopes of the Urals, candidly shared the way her upbringing shaped her dress sense.

‘I am very much in favor of investing in quality pieces that you can reuse, but paying a fortune for something like a luxury bathrobe is insane. My mother earned 10 dollars a month. Sometimes not even that,’ she revealed.

‘Hence, the importance of brands raising awareness about recycling. We have to start telling ourselves: “Okay, instead of throwing the jeans away I’m going to put them away and in a few years I’ll put them back on.” In fact, the minimalist trends of the 90s are back and now those jeans are even cooler,’ she argued.

‘I am very conscious of the value of money,’ said Irina, espousing a ‘love’ of ‘saving’ rather than spending on ‘delusional trends’ that go out of style within a year.

‘I think true sexy comes from self-confidence. A woman who feels great in her own skin is always beautiful and attractive to me,’ Irina said, hailing sexiness as ‘an eternal concept, something that lives inside.’

She maintained: ‘It’s not high heels and makeup, it’s self-confidence. In that sense, now we can see many more examples of inclusivity on the catwalks: different body types, ethnic origins, sizes… All those girls are beautiful! That’s real sensuality.’

Her latest magazine interview comes after a surge of conjecture that year about whether she has gotten back together with Bradley.

Bradley and Irina added grist to the rumor mill at the end of November when they were spotted spending Thanksgiving together with Lea De Seine.

The previous week Bradley and Irina were seen exchanging affectionate glances as they took a stroll together without their child.

Bradley and Irina retained a famously close co-parenting equation since their split in 2019 after a relationship that reportedly lasted four years.

Reunion rumors went into overdrive late last year when they were spotted getting affectionate during a stroll in New York.

The dashing movie star wrapped an arm around the Soviet-born supermodel, who was seen with her hand on his rear end.

At that time there was even speculation that Bradley and Irina were mulling the prospect of having another baby.

Pouring fuel on the fire, a Page Six insider alleged: ‘It was a real family getaway and they are considering getting back together.’

The source asserted that Irina ‘would like her daughter to have a sibling,’ and Page Six reported Bradley was amenable to the idea.

Although Bradley at the time was rumored to be dating Hillary Clinton’s confidante Huma Abedin, Page Six reported they were only ever casually involved.

Meanwhile Irina’s dating history includes Cristiano Ronaldo and last year she was briefly linked to Kanye West in the wake of his split from Kim Kardashian.
