  •  ITV bosses fear BBC executives will attempt to woo more of their stars

ITV bosses are furious at the BBC for poaching more of their home-grown and ‘relatable’ talent.

The rival networks are at loggerheads after the Corporation handed Joel Dommett, the host of ITV’s popular Saturday night programme The Masked Singer and I’m A Celebrity… runner-up, a high-profile role presenting its new adventure series Survivor.

The BBC has also recently given roles to ITV’s This Morning presenter Alison Hammond, Ninja Warrior host Rochelle Humes and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.

The Chase frontman Bradley Walsh and his son, Barney, have also been hired by the BBC to lead the reboot of 1990s favourite Gladiators.

Now ITV bosses fear BBC executives will attempt to woo more of their stars after mainstay Holly Willoughby was invited to be the BBC’s guest of honour at an awards ceremony last year.

A source at the broadcaster said: ‘It’s getting ridiculous now. Spot the talent, nurture the talent and then the BBC swan in and take them.

‘There is a view amongst the executives here that they love the fact ITV’s stars are so relatable. When will they find their own, and when will they stop?’

It is not known whether the stars are paid more by the BBC, but industry insiders say they enjoy working across both channels and like the prestige of working for the BBC.

BBC sources rebut the complaints, saying ITV has historically poached its stars with higher wages.

In recent years, Susanna Reid defected from BBC Breakfast to ITV’s Good Morning Britain, while Adrian Chiles and Christine Lampard left The One Show to go to ITV.

Comedian Dommett, 37, beat Ms Willoughby, 41, to host Survivor, a game show which the BBC says is ‘a test of brains, brawn and betrayal’.
