The awkward exchange began when Antonoff, 39, was introduced to Dimoldenberg, 29, who said ‘It’s nice to meet you’ as he scanned the crowd.
She said: ‘What are you looking at? Hello everyone, welcome to the interview.’
As Antonoff whipped off his trademark shades, Dimoldenberg bizarrely asked: ‘Are they real, are they real glasses?’
Antonoff retorted: ‘Of course they’re real. That’s extremely f*****g offensive.’
The Chicken Shop Date star – who is known for deliberately feigning an awkward interview style – said his glasses ‘looked a bit fake.’
Antonoff responded: ‘That’s like asking, “Are you a piece of s**t? Are you a piece of s**t?’”’ to which she responded: ‘Yeah people who wear fake glasses are the worst.’
Antonoff then said: ‘How much money do you have?’ – citing that as another example of a ‘terrible question.’
Following a stilted exchange over which dead star Antonoff would like to collaborate with, the interview ended on an icy note as Dimoldenberg said: ‘That’s all I have time for. Get out of here. You want me to be rude? I don’t want to see you again.’
The video was posted to British GQ’s TikTok account and later deleted – before a reedited version was uploaded, minus the cringeworthy moments.
Fans quickly took to social media to call out the hilarious chat with one writing: ‘The amelia dimoldenberg and jack antonoff interview from GQ is actually the most painful thing i’ve ever watched.’
Another typed: ‘Did anyone else see the (I think) now deleted Amelia dimoldenberg and jack antonoff interview… ‘twas spicy,’
A third typed: ‘she’s bad at her job and he’s a bit of a w**ker, makes sense why they took it down tbh.’
Another penned: ‘WOAH. I didn’t expect it to be THAT bad, tbh, I just thought maybe some humor was getting lost. No, he’s truly just an asshole.’
Others quipped that Antonoff was clearly playing along, writing: ‘i think he was just trying to match her energy? yeah it turned out awkward but i think he was just trying to have a banter with her.’
‘Wait you guys he’s just being extremely dry! He’s doing a bit and he’s always messing around. I just don’t think she got his sense of humor while he was thinking she’d bounce back and forth off his comments and make counter jokes.
Back in August Antonoff and Margaret Qualley officially tied the knot at Parkers Garage in Long Beach, New Jersey in front of close family and celebrity friends.
The lead singer of the Bleachers and the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actress, 28, became engaged earlier last year in May after being romantically linked back in August 2021.
