Jason Donovan dons a racy red corset with stockings and suspenders as he joins The Rocky Horror Show’s 50th anniversary launch in Melbourne
Jason Donovan has stepped into the high heels of Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The former Neighbours star was in character on Friday, promoting the new season of the production which is set to launch in Melbourne at the Athenaeum Theatre.
The 54-year-old looked edgy in a red corset and fishnet suspenders, along with a pair of stacked red high hells.
He added a leather jacket over the top and for bottoms, he opted for a leather pair of underwear.
Jason finished his eye-catching look with a bold pearl necklace and wore his hair in bouncy curls, as well as a full face of makeup.
In further pictures of the actor in character, he added a feathered headpiece and a boa to his corset and stockings while taking the mic.
Earlier this year, Jason stepped into the role of Dr Frank-N-Furter, taking the place of his former Neighbours co-star Craig McLachlan.
The show marked its 50th anniversary at the Theatre Royal Sydney in February.
Director Chris Luscombe said: ‘As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rocky Horror, it’s a treat to watch these exceptional young actors respond so enthusiastically to the material, putting their own stamp on such legendary roles.
‘With Jason Donovan at the helm, with his wealth of experience, and Myf Warhurst as a deliciously witty Narrator, audiences really are going to enjoy a fabulous party every night.’
Speaking last year ahead his return to the stage Jason said: ‘I am thrilled to be coming home next year to be part of the legendary Rocky Horror Show and in its 50th Anniversary production no less!’
‘From the very first performance in London those years ago, Richard O’Brien created a show from the wilds of his imagination with incredible music that has now stood the test of time, and an awesome energy that befits its accolades and its endurance.’
‘Quite simply, it’s a rock n roll show appealing to the cheeky side of us all so I cannot wait to be on stage at Theatre Royal Sydney to party in 2023!’.
