Jenna Bush Hager has opened up about visiting the historic D-Day beaches of Normandy with her daughters during her family’s ‘magical’ trip to France.’
The Today star returned to the show on Tuesday with stories from their trip after both she and her co-host Hoda Kotb took the week off of work ahead of the Labor Day holiday.
Bush Hager, 41, and her husband, Henry Hager, 45, also visited Paris while enjoying their first international adventure with their daughters, Mila, 10, and Poppy, eight.
‘I had the most magical [vacation]. My 83-year-old mother-in-law took all of us — well, not all of us. One of us stayed home,’ she said of her four-year-old son, Hal, who did not go to France with them.

The mother of three noted she was pleasantly surprised by her oldest daughters’ maturity throughout their travels.
‘Their favorite day was when they visited the American cemetery in Normandy. They just thought it was moving, and they could feel it,’ she explained. ‘They never said, “I’m bored.”‘
Bush Hager noted that they pre-gamed the trip with ‘a lot of teaching of history,’ saying ‘Mila read Poppy some books’ ahead of time.
‘Then, also, it was like you’re grandmother’s 83, and her father fought in World War II, and it’s going to be meaningful for her,’ she said. ‘It was really beautiful.’
The former first daughter described it as being a ‘once in a lifetime’ vacation for her family while recalling how special it was to share those memories with her daughters.
‘They’ve never been anywhere, so to witness their [faces] when they saw a different culture. It was really incredible,’ she explained.
Bush Hager also noted that her daughters ‘slept on the plane’ and were ‘well-behaved’ with only one day ‘where the was a little grumpiness.’
‘I think if we re-set our expectations for our kids, they follow suite,’ she said.

While in Paris, they visited the Eiffel Tower and museums.
The Read with Jenna founder shared pictures from their vacation on her Instagram Stories on Friday, including a snapshot of them eating at a café.
The family posed in front of a mirror for an artistic selfie, and the mom captured her daughters doing their best impression of ‘The Thinker’ at the Rodin Museum.
Bush Hager also shared a sweet photo of her girls enjoying room service in bed in their hotel room.
After returning stateside, she and her husband spent Labor Day weekend saying ‘goodbye summer’ with her Today co-star Savannah Guthrie, her best friend Laird Gough, and their respective husband, Mike Feldman and Ross Gough.

The host posted a picture of all the couples posing together, writing, ‘Perfect way to say goodbye.’
In another snapshot, she has her arms wrapped around Guthrie and Laird Gough.
Bush Hager also included some pictures of her children making s’mores, including her son, Hal, licking marshmallow off of his lip.
Guthrie and Feldman were joined by their children, Vale, nine, and Charley, six, who had fun swimming with the Hager children over the holiday weekend.
The group appeared to be at Bush Hager’s new home in Connecticut.
They moved to Fairfield County last year after listing their New York City condo for $5.375 million in the spring of 2022.
The Hagers also own a Long Island cottage with an open-air pool, where they like to spend their summers.
