Jessie J gives birth! Singer announces she welcomed a baby boy a week ago – a year after going public with basketball star Chanan Safir Colman
Jessie J has given birth to her first child, a baby boy.
The hitmaker, 35, welcomed the new arrival with her basketball player boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman – who she is thought to have been in a relationship with for one year.
Managing to keep the pregnancy impressively under wraps to begin with, the star announced the joyous news back in January and has been keeping fans updated since.
She has previously shared that becoming a mother is ‘all I have ever wanted’, with the pregnancy coming 13 months after she suffered a devastating miscarriage in November 2021.
Detailing the heartbreaking ordeal on social media at the time, the singer explained that doctors struggled to find a heartbeat from the baby during her third scan – before learning she had miscarried.
The new bundle of joy means that Jessie and her boyfriend Chanan have become parents for the first time.
In April last year, Jessie confirmed she was in a new relationship with the basketballer as they kissed on lunch date in LA.
The pair first sparked romance rumors in March 2022 on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the Caribbean as Chanan has joined Jessie for the work trip.
Jessie took to Instagram at the time and looked cosy with Danish-Israeli professional basketball player Chanan in a group beach picture.
Months later in May, she hinted that the 38-year-old veteran pro athlete is the first partner she’s been ‘properly in love’ with.
When appearing on The Diary of a CEO podcast, the Flashlight hitmaker teased fans about her love life but kept the details private.
Jessie was asked by host Steven Bartlett how many times she’d been truly in love and she replied ‘once’, answering in the present tense, hinting she saw her future settled with Chanan.
She continued: ‘Because I can actually see my life with that person and I’ve never had that before.’
Looking for more details, Steven said: ‘sounds recent?’, she grinned: ‘Maybe it is.’ but cheekily added: ‘Maybe it isn’t. Who knows? Hint.’
Then announcing her pregnancy news in January this year, Jessie shared a montage of sweet clips from different parts of her term so far.
Captioning her post, the singer penned: ‘I am so happy and terrified to finally share this… Please be gentle with me.
‘Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate covered pickle with no questions asked.’
The heartfelt clip was set to her own song Sunflower and featured her holding up a positive pregnancy test confirming her baby joy.
Jessie is reportedly ‘filming a documentary’ to showcase the relaunch of her career and is ‘determined’ to not let becoming a mother interfere with her rise back in pop music.
The documentary is said to be showing how she navigates getting back into the music arena while also becoming a parent.
Jessie recently revealed that she was struggling to keep her fluid levels up after being struck down with the flu while heavily pregnant.
The songstress had been stricken with the highly infectious cold virus over recent weeks, resulting in a series of unfortunate symptoms.
Taking to Instagram, Jessie admitted she constantly needs to use the loo as a consequence of the illness, an issue that has drastically affected her ability to maintain high fluid levels.
Posting last month, she wrote: ‘I may as well sleep on the toilet at this point. Keeping your fluids up whilst sick whilst pregnant is a match made in ”we got any more loo roll” heaven.’
