A mask-wearing jogger accidentally crashed a live television news cross before standing in the background paralysed with embarrassment.

Nine reporter Maggie Raworth was crossing back to Peter Overton from The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on Sunday night when the woman tried to jog past her.

‘Are you right? Just two seconds,’ Raworth told the jogger, who apparently didn’t realise she had interrupted the live broadcast.

‘Well done Maggie, thank you,’ Overton said.

But the stone-faced woman simply stood right behind Raworth, who struggled to find her words and continue her cross.

‘You go, Maggie,’ Overton assured the journalist.

The woman stared into the camera just metres behind Raworth before eventually running off in the opposite direction.

Raworth was reporting on Savannah Simon, who was killed in a horrific car crash on the Mornington Peninsula.

The 23-year-old was in the car with her boyfriend when it crashed into trees and flipped in Summerville on Saturday night.
