Joker 2 title REVEALED: Director Todd Phillips confirms sequel as he shares photo of star Joaquin Phoenix reading script for Folie à Deux

Todd Phillips, who directed Joker, shared a photo of his star Joaquin Phoenix reading the script for the second film. 

The 51-year-old director photo of Phoenix showed the Walk the Line star reading the script while sitting on a comfortable-looking couch.

He wore pinstripe pants, a black t-shirt and dark sunglasses.

His thinning hair was combed over to the right and his white beard was groomed into a well-kept, but still bushy, style.

A half-smoked cigarette hung from his lips as he read through the script for the highly-anticipated sequel. 

Phillips also shared a picture of the script’s cover, red with black lettering on it, revealing the film’s title as Joker 2: Folie à Deux.

‘Folie à deux’ is a French phrase literally meaning ‘shared madness.’ It’s used to describe a delusion shared by two people in close proximity.  

8 Mile writer Scott Silver co-wrote the script alongside Phillips. 

The first Joker movie was both a commercial and critical success when it was released back in 2019.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed over $1 billion on a budget of just $55 million.
