- Kanye, 45, sat down with ABC’s Linsey Davis for an interview that will air in full tonight
- A preview was shown on Good Morning America on Thursday in which he was asked whether social media is hurtful of beneficial to him
- The rapper, who now goes by ‘Ye’, said it was ‘all in how we use it’
- Last month, he weaponized Instagram against his ex Kim Kardashian to publicly shame her parenting
- He said she was trying to control their four kids and where they attended school, and said he had effectively served as a sperm donor
- He has seen multi-million dollar deals with Gap and Adidas fall apart in arguments over creative control
Kanye West said social media could be used for harm or good in his first interview since his unhinged Instagram tirade against ex-wife Kim Kardashian last month, where he claimed she controlled their children’s lives and likened himself to a sperm donor.
The rapper – who now goes by the name Ye – was interviewed by ABC News’ Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis. A portion of the interview aired on Good Morning America on Thursday, but the full sit-down will air tonight at 8.30pm.
The 45-year-old was asked first whether he believes social media is of hurtful or beneficial to him.
Smiling, he replied: ‘That’s one of my favorite questions of this interview.
‘I mean, we can use a car to rush somebody to the hospital or we can use a car and accidentally hit somebody while we’re rushing somebody to the hospital. So it’s all in how we use it.’

Kim and Kanye had four children together before she filed for divorce in February. They are shown with their kids North, nine, Saint, six, Chicago, four and Psalm, three, in an older Instagram post
In his meltdown last month, Kanye fumed that Kim was trying to take charge of their four children’s schooling.
The couple finalized their divorce in June this year after splitting in February. They had been married for six years, during which time they welcomed four children; North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
In a series of unhinged Instagram posts last month, the rapper – who has been open in the past about his bipolar disorder diagnosis and ongoing struggles with mental illness – accused Kim of trying to control their children’s lives and schooling.
Specifically, he claimed that Hulu – the streaming giant with which the Kardashians now have a lucrative partnership – dictated where the kids would attend school.
West posted screenshots of his text conversations with his ex-wife where she begged him to stop mentioning her mother, Kris Jenner, and to stop airing their dirty laundry
Kanye said he was dealing with control ‘at the highest level’ and insisted that he was not ‘crazy’
In another post, Kanye called on his ‘fellow c*m donors’ as he posted a snap with the names of Tristan Thompson and Travis Scott. Tristan has two children with Khloe Kardashian while Scott has three kids with Kourtney Kardashian
He wrote something resembling a poem that alluded to the Kardashians on Hulu while speaking more about his mental health and his children’s school
The outburst was also connected to his beleaguered design deals with Adidas and Gap
He would prefer for them to go to the Donda Academy, set up in memory of his late mother.
He also alleged in the posts that he and other former Kardashian husbands and boyfriends Scott Disick, Travis Scott and Tristan Thompson served as ‘c*um’ donors for the family of women.
Kanye has since deleted the posts. His Instagram page, where he has more than 17million followers, is now empty.
The outburst was the latest in a string of public meltdowns about his marriage.
In July 2020, while still married, he told a crowd at a political rally that he and Kim had considered abortion when she was pregnant with their oldest daughter, North. He later apologized for the admission and said he was embarrassed.
After their split, Kim paraded a new romance with comedian Pete Davidson and made jokes at Kanye’s expense on Saturday Night Live.
She and Davidson confirmed their split in July.
