Karl Stefanovic is back on home turf after marathon coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in London

Happy to be home! Smiling Karl Stefanovic arrives at Sydney Airport with a designer Louis Vuitton duffle bag after marathon coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in London

Karl Stefanovic looked ecstatic to be home on Wednesday as he touched down in Sydney Airport.

The Today host, 48, looked bougie casual as he exited the gate with a Louis Vuitton duffle bag worth an eye-watering $3750 strapped across his body.

He wore a chic black T-shirt over matching black trackpants, which featured trendy dark grey pockets and bunched around his ankles.

The television personality completed the look with a black IJE cap, woven bracelets on one wrist and a pair of squeaky clean white sneakers with gold detailing.

Karl has just come off his breakfast show’s marathon coverage of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and looked exhausted as he left the gate.

His mood immediately picked up when he hopped on the phone, unable to wipe the smile off his face as he went down the escalators to collect his single black suitcase from baggage claim and wait outside for a taxi.

Allison Langdon anchored the Today show solo on Wednesday after her co-host Karl jetted back to Sydney following the Queen’s funeral.

She began her live broadcast from Buckingham Palace at 8:30pm Tuesday (GMT) without him by her side, and acknowledged his absence about an hour later.

Referencing the unusually quiet scenes at the palace in London, Allison explained Karl was on a flight home to Australia.

The 43-year-old smiled as she told Sarah Abo and Alex Cullen how ‘calm’ things were at Buckingham Palace without her rowdy co-host around.

‘Thank you, guys. It is so calm and peaceful here,’ she said.

‘I can’t work out if that’s because the crowds [from the Queen’s funeral] are all gone, or just that Karl’s on a plane on his way home!’

Karl had arrived in London on September 13 to cover the death of the Queen and Allison was on the ground a day earlier, hosting Today alongside Charles Croucher.

Nine may be staggering its presenters’ flights back to Australia so its flagship news programs, such as the Today show, aren’t without both main hosts.

It’s likely Allison and other network stars, like Peter Overton and Tracy Grimshaw, will return to Australia by the end of the week.
