Kate Middleton reveals struggle when she tried to plait Charlotte’s hair

The Duchess of Cambridge revealed the struggle she faced styling Princess Charlotte‘s hair during an outing in Cumbria yesterday.

Mother-of-three Kate, 37, admitted it ‘hadn’t gone very well’ when she tried to give her four-year-old daughter plaits while speaking to a girl, three, and her family on Deepdale Hall Farm in Patterdale.

Bending down to admire the blonde girl’s hair, she said: ‘I love your plaits. They’re so pretty,’ before asking who had styled her hair so neatly.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the farm on their final stop of a busy day of engagements in Cumbria.

Speaking to other parents in the market town of Keswick earlier in the day, Kate told how much Charlotte was looking forward to starting school this September.

‘She told us how nice the Lake District was and how lucky we were to live so close to the mountains.’

Another well-wisher said afterwards: ‘She [the Duchess of Cambridge] said that it was raining a lot and was a long way from their home in Norfolk, but they love it here.’
