King Charles’s goddaughter Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark splits up with Peregrine Pearson, the son and heir of the 4th Viscount Cowdray
When I revealed their romance in 2020, it was hailed as a union of European royalty and one of Britain’s richest aristocratic dynasties.
So I am sorry to report that King Charles’s goddaughter, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark, has split up with Peregrine Pearson, son and heir of the 4th Viscount Cowdray.
‘They grew apart,’ a source tells me. ‘Their friends and family were hoping their union would lead to marriage, but it wasn’t meant to be.’
And in that quintessentially modern confirmation of a relationship’s demise, Olympia, the only daughter of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and his wife, Marie-Chantal Miller, has ‘unfollowed’ 28-year-old Perry on Instagram and deleted all traces of him on her account on the picture-sharing social media app.
Friends began whispering about the state of their relationship when property developer Perry was conspicuous by his absence at the Chelsea-based model’s 27th birthday party in July.
They have not been seen in public together since last November.
For three consecutive summers, the couple holidayed together, but this year they went their separate ways.
The Princess visited Italy and Greece with family and friends including actress Poppy Delevingne, who is going out with her brother Prince Constantine Alexios.
They were joined by Isabella Massenet, the girlfriend of her other brother, Prince Archi.
Perry, meanwhile, spent his summer with pals in Cow Neck, New York state, as well as in Spain with family.
He was also at the Burning Man festival in Nevada with a posse of attractive young women.
A spokesman for Olympia, who is pictured wearing a matching fuchsia pink satin crop top and skirt at the Chanel and W Magazine dinner in New York earlier this week to honour American filmmaker Sofia Coppola, declines to comment.
Perry is similarly discreet.
Last month, I disclosed that Perry’s mother, 63-year-old Viscountess Cowdray had separated from her husband Michael after 36 years of marriage at Cowdray Park, the 17,000-acre estate in West Sussex.
The artist and sculptress was being comforted by her chiropractor.
The 79-year-old former film producer Lord Cowdray owns a significant chunk of the Pearson media empire and his fortune is estimated to be more than £400million.
