KitKat launches the world’s first VOLCANIC chocolate sourced from volcanic islands 

Australian foodies will get their first taste of ‘volcanic’ chocolate – one of the world’s rarest cocoas.

KitKat Chocolatory has launched a new range of ‘Sublime Volcanic’, made with cocoa cultivated only in the Volcanic islands of Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and the Philippines.

Rich in nutrients from volcanic ash, the soil and growing conditions in these regions create a uniquely fruity and bitter taste.

The limited-edition range, retailed from $5, will take chocolate fans on a journey of discovery, with each creation featuring its own distinct flavour.

Vanuatu is ‘robustly earthy and bitter’, Papua New Guinea is ‘fresh and fruity’, while the Philippines packs a punch with ‘intensely spicy and aromatic notes’.

The cocoa is so rare, it accounts for just 0.2 per cent of the world’s cocoa production.

‘We are also thrilled to be launching nationwide online delivery for the first time ever, allowing everyone across Australia to get their hands on the delicious new range.’

Head of marketing confectionery Nestlé Joyce Tan said the new range comes just after the success of the world’s fourth chocolate variety, Ruby, in Australia last year.

‘In the past twelve months alone, we’ve seen a nine per cent growth in dark chocolate across the category, so we know the launch of KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Volcanic will definitely entice and excite chocolate lovers nationwide,’ she said.

The new Sublime Volcanic range is available exclusively to purchase from the KitKat Chocolatory store in Melbourne on Thursday, August 15 and online from 6pm.
