Kyle and Jackie O shocked by Adele / Sam Smith conspiracy theory

Kyle and Jackie O are shocked by wild conspiracy theory that Adele is actually Sam Smith in disguise

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson were shocked to discover a bizarre conspiracy theory that Adele is actually Sam Smith in disguise.

The KIIS FM radio duo discussed the wild theory on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday morning, after playing songs from both artists.

‘A lot of people believe this conspiracy theory out there that Sam Smith is actually Adele in drag,’ Jackie explained.

They then played Adele’s hit single Easy On Me before mixing and lowering the pitch levels, known as a pitch shift, to demonstrate how similar her voice is to Sam’s.

‘That’s the real Sam,’ Kyle said of the original track.

Jackie then corrected him: ‘No, that’s real Adele!’

As the lower-pitch version played, Kyle looked shocked because it sounded as though the vocals were performed by 30-year-old Sam.

The duo then played Sam’s track I’m Not the Only One, before shifting the pitch higher so it sounded eerily like Adele.

Kyle and Jackie were at a loss for words after hearing both versions.

‘Oh, wow, yeah. That’s good! That sounds amazing,’ Kyle said.

They then played Sam's track I’m Not the Only One, their version played first and was then followed by the track with a higher pitch that eerily sounded like Adele

‘Yeah, right?’ agreed Jackie.

Sam, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, first addressed the conspiracy theory on The Drew Barrymore Show on Monday.

They said the rumour started because they and Adele had never been pictured in the same room together.

Sam added that if you slow Adele’s voice down, it does actually sound like theirs.

‘Everyone thinks I’m Adele. We’ve never been seen in the same room together. If you slow down her voice, it sounds a bit like mine,’ they explained.

But fans weren’t convinced, with one tweeting: ‘Nobody ever, in their wildest fever dream, while drunk and high on opioids has ever said Sam Smith is Adele in drag.

‘The voice? For sure, pitched sounds like it. But physically? Even a blind man wouldn’t make that mistake.’

‘I want Adele’s reaction to what Sam Smith said,’ another wrote.
