Kyle Sandilands believes Peter Helliar and Lisa Wilkinson were FIRED from The Project due to poor ratings and says viewers don’t want to be ‘force-fed left-wing agenda bulls**t’
The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Helliar shocked viewers this week when they both announced their departures from the struggling current affairs program.
The pair both stated that they were walking away on their own terms to pursue other opportunities, but radio host Kyle Sandilands believes that they may have actually been fired.
Sharing his theory on Wednesday’s edition of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the shock jock claimed that they probably got the sack from Channel 10 due to The Project’s poor ratings.
Kyle Sandilands claims that Peter Helliar and Lisa Wilkinson were fired from The Project instead of resigning
‘Who are they fooling thinking they all decided to leave at the same time? This is a mass firing!’ Kyle said.
‘This is Channel 10 saying, “You can leave and say you’ve resigned or you can get fired.” And everyone chooses the resign thing. That’s what happens,’ he continued.
‘They’re no good! They don’t rate. No one watches it,’ he added.
‘The best thing they can do is fire everyone and start again with real people that people care about.’
Lisa and Peter shocked viewers this week when they both announced their departures from The Project
While Kyle believes that Peter and Lisa may have got the sack, he clarified that Carrie Bickmore, who quit the show in October, probably walked away on her own terms.
‘Lisa, fired, no one cares, no one watches,’ he said. ‘Peter, fired, no one cares, no one watches.
‘I do believe they would’ve wanted to keep Carrie. Is that her name? Whatever, the Carrie-Ann or whatever her name is. I just think she’s got too much on. She’s doing that radio show that obviously no one listens to either.’
Kyle also said that The Project was force-feeding ‘left-wing agenda bulls**t’ to viewers that nobody wants to see.

He then blamed The Project’s poor ratings for causing Channel 10’s entertainment shows, like The Bachelor and The Real Love Boat, to bomb because they didn’t have a strong lead-in.
‘They all fail and it’s The Project’s fault, so someone at 10 has realised, “we need to sweep these losers off television.”‘
Helliar, 47, announced he was leaving The Project on Tuesday and explained he decided to quit following the departure of his co-host Carrie Bickmore.

‘Carrie, you recently said that you are glad you’re leaving The Project while you still love it and I still love the show. I really do,’ he explained.
‘The Project means a lot to me. It’s done amazing things for me. I interviewed Luke Skywalker once… and I look forward to see what the show is in the future.’
It comes after Wilkinson announced she was quitting effective immediately.

The embattled TV presenter, 62, made the shock admission at the end of Sunday night’s episode, leaving viewers stunned.
‘I have decided it’s time to reprioritise a few things in my life,’ the TV veteran began alongside co-hosts Hamish Macdonald and The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne.
‘And after almost 15 years of the early alarm of breakfast TV, and now another five years here at The Project desk, I’m looking at how I want the coming years to play out both professionally and personally.’
