The Coronation Street star, 46, admitted that ‘we just don’t know what’s going to happen’, and wants to do things he can come to watch.
While the actress, who is currently rehearsing for the dancing show, also shared that she’s been asked to join the competition before, but turned it down.

David is currently receiving treatment for the cancer, with Kym telling MailOnline: ‘We don’t know how long my dad is going to be around but we know he’s not well.

Kym, who married Army Major Scott Ratcliff last year, admitted that she’s been asked to do the show in previous years, but turned it down.
But with the future unknown and Scott potentially headed back to the army, the actress has decided to do the show ‘while I can’ and with the support of her family.
‘My husband is in the army and he might be deployed again next year so you just think “let’s do things while we can”‘.

‘My family are like my entourage, they want to come everywhere with me so they will definitely come and watch it and support.’
And while she’s ready for the challenge, Kym is going to be kept busy as she juggles rehearsals and her other work commitments.
‘I’m filming for Waterloo Road at the moment and also doing Morning Live every Monday, so it could be a challenge, I will have to juggle things around.
‘Before I said yes I had to check it would all work, my agent was worried I would say yes and then get burnt out and not manage. But Waterloo Road have been great so hopefully it’ll all be fine.’
Mother-of-four Kym shares two children, David and Emilie, with ex-partner Jack Cunliffe, and daughter Polly with ex-husband Jamie Lomas – with their son, Archie, sadly passing away after birth.
And as the star is also a grandmother, she has recently jested that she wanted to be the first grandmother to win Strictly.
‘I’m doing it for the grandmothers out there,’ she explained during her Morning Live show back in August.
Strictly Come Dancing kicks off on BBC One on Saturday 17 September.
